My yearling usually lives out, although does come into his stable for farrier etc, so is somewhat used to it. The farmer next door is planning his annual large fireworks display and I really don't know what to do with my yearling! Is he better off in the 2 acre field with the older two who are kind of calm around fireworks, or in his stable (next to them) where he can't see the bright lights? Wondering what other people do with their babies?

Admittedly I don’t have neighbours who let fireworks off but there are a lot locally enough, and I don’t have youngsters at the minute but have in the past.

I always leave in normal routine, and if that’s out (with calm friends) then leave out. Personally I think there’s quite a risk if a horse panics in the stable or tries to come over the door, and I often think fireworks must echo under a stable roof.

I’m sure there will be people along shortly with more youngster specific insights than me.

We seem to have more going off around here tonight than last night and mine are happily grazing ignoring everything.

Yes it's been going on for days here. I guess that's what happens when Bonfire Night lands just after a weekend 🤷🏼‍♀️ Farmer's display is on Tuesday, but I'm worrying now, as he set off a couple of 'testers' tonight that my youngster really wasn't happy with (the other two just kept grazing).

I kept them out in the usual field in the end, but held the older two. I figured if they didn't hoon around, the yearling was less likely to run himself into a blind panic. Older two stood like angels and yearling ran round a fair bit, but not in a stupid panic mode.

I know it know when it will be, but I dread it every year though because it's such a big and close display, but I was extra worried this year due to having a yearling.
