Does such a thing exist?

Somewhere to put a youngster to allow it to grow up on kind of a grass livery arrangement with other youngsters? Maybe daily checks included?

I maybe talking utter nonsense but was just curious :) Toying with the idea of getting a yearling but wouldnt want it on DIY kept in for long periods over winter until it was in work - both for expense & its state of mind.

Thank you!!

Yes, it definitely does..many studs offer it - which area are you in? there is also the option of buying direct from breeder who may keep the youngster there until older on grass livery.

Yep I keep my 9 month old filly at a stud farm too. They have a handful of liveries there. She is turned out with 2-3 other babies and 2 retired brood mares to nanny them and teach manners.

Ahh fab! :-) Not totally out of the question then!

I'm in South Wales so something or somewhere localish would be fab for regular visits although places close to me are few & far between.

The yearling colt I've spotted is around 60 miles away though so whether theyd be willing to do an arrangement over that distance I dont know. I can at least now ask without sounding totally daft! lol Wonder if I found a local stud to me they maybe open to the idea too even if he's not from them.

Do you all see yours daily? Weekly? Monthly? Are they close to home?

Glad I asked now :D

I'm lucky as I have an irish draught and a welsh sec a stud both within 2 miles of my house. She's at the sec a stud and see her 3-4 times a week just to have a play with her take her for a walk, groom etc.... She loves it there as she has the other babies to play with and a couple of old birds when she just wants a bit of "mothering". I like babies just to be babies. I pay £30 a week and that includes any haylage or bedding if they are in the barn (purely due to the 8-10ft high snow drifts here) she gets checked at least twice a day. The stud owner treats her as one of her own. Hope you find a stud as good as I have.

Oh that sounds perfect!! I'll have a look on the net tomorrow for some local ones although I know finding one that will look after them that well will be like gold dust around here if its anything like liveries! I have mine on DIY atm at a brilliant yard & they do grass but the winter paddocks are just mud so wouldnt want him stood out in that 24/7 so he'd have to be on DIY really, but then throw in a few weeks over winter theyve stayed in solidly because of the weather & its not fair on him.

Somewhere which had the land to have a little herd out together & a barn in case its awful like yours would be fab :) Will have to ask about!
