What are your future ambitions on the dog front?

I never had any until I got Henry, but now I want to have a real working spaniel

I'd love to work Henry, but I don't think he's built for it, what with his hips and his squirrel habit

So one day there will have to be an ickle spangle addition to the house (not any time soon, before anyone gets excited!).

It's probably really silly, after all I don't even know any shooting peeps apart from you guys on here, so where would I work a dog? But one day I want to do it

What about you guys?

One day I will give up work, and I will buy myself an ickle blue whippet puppy

That will probably be when I retire mind you

For now, I am happy to add another rescue to my collection and that will be me settled for the next eight to ten years I hope, since Islay is 6 1/2 now

Would like to do a bit of dog agility with Chloe. But ultimately I just want a doggy for cuddles and for her to be happy! xxxxx

With Bodo, I am currently training for the TD1 tracking qualification, then hopefully TD2 and TD3!

I am also now aiming to get Bella her BH (traffic-safe companion dog) qualification, which her brother got earlier this month. Haven't tried her tracking yet.

Neither are interested in bitework and aren't happy retrievers so I cannot go forward for a Schutzhund title as you need the obedience, tracking and protection elements, but luckily they can be broken down into individual qualifications.

Long term, knowing what I know now (!) I would be looking at getting a good working bred dog or four (there is a litter being born any day now that would be perfect, but I think I have my hands full already!) and trial in Schutzhund. My aim is to make up a SchIII dog

To work Otto. And a week on Wednesday he is off to his first days beating

I don't think it's a silly ambition for you, my Parent's didn't really know anyone and sort of fell into working the dogs (although they had always wanted to!). They now beat/pick up pretty much twice a week for the entire season on 3 different shoots, and my Dad is in charge of the beating line on two different shoots.

You should go beating as soon as you can, you don't need a dog, it's a fab day (and probably less stressful without a dog!) and then you'll know what to expect as soon as you do get a dog able to go out! The NOBs forum is good for finding local shoots in need of beaters (although you have to pay a fiver a year to join it!)

have been gundog training for the past few months with my lab - passed our stage 2 a few weeks ago and just started advanced training today in preparation for our first 'picking up' outing in the new yr - fingers crossed we wont embarass ourselves! But he is doing very well, especially for a young dog. Would like him to be a proper working dog, going on weekly shoots as soon as he's capable and maybe do some field trials. Would also like to use him as a stud dog

Well I aim to reduce the number of dogs I have

, expand my boarding business, and help OH to become a behaviourist, as I dont want to do it apart from the rescue but dont mind helping him with private clients.

I'm not that ambitious - I'm just excited to be able to take on a couple of rescue dogs when I have my own home and make them into nice, well behaved pets.

Although I would love to do some work with Pets as Therapy one day, if I ever have a dog of the right temperament. Entering a couple of local dog shows in the Novelty classes is quite enough glory for me though.
