What do you typically do with yours?

My share is currently out 24/7 as well as his friend which I also look after. When yours are out 24/7 do you still go down twice a day? I know a few people who stop going down twice a day and only go down once as their horses only have 1 hard feed and grass.

Out 24/7 summertime usually go up once a day as we (3) all go up atleast once at some point during a day so horses are checked a few times a day. With people taking extra 'shifts' when others are on holiday etc

In the winter they live out 24/7 one person generally does the am check after the school run and the other 2 do the evening shift as they will ride most days. Somedays the horses may be seen to 9am 3pm and 7-8pm coz of work.

Obviously if weather is bad (snow) we will each go up 2times day to give hay check water and spend time ferrying hay and containers of water into storage area outside the field from the main yard so it's easier to dispense over the day

It's a set up that has worked well for us for quite a few years now

Twice a day.

Summer - Check her in the field first thing in the morning, plus check the fencing to make sure they haven't broken it overnight..
Then bring her in for a feed, feet, groom, possibly groundwork and a more thorough check in the evening. After which she is then set free once more with an apple..

Winter - Chuck her into the field first thing after her breakfast, and then bring her in at night for above checks, but she stays in. With an apple, obviously.. :D

Scooby on up when I can, work dependant. They come in for the day if its very hot otherwise stay out 24/7 through summer. I share with a friend so they normally get checked 2-3 times a day.

Twice a day all year. They are out all time at the moment and I do water and poo picking am and then feed and ride pm while my field mate does the chores. If either of us absent, the other covers. Twice a day in winter (turnout and muck out at 7ish and bring in 6ish) unless they have to stay in for any reason in which case I am close enough to skip out and give more hay at lunchtime.

Twice a day in winter, he's in at night, out in the day.

4 times a day in summer, in during the day, out at night, with several small haynets to keep him happy whilst in, otherwise he goes too long without food, cant up the amount as he gets too fat.

I only go up once a day.
He's out 24/7 all year round and grooms do a general check everytime they feed which is 5x a day (3 hay feeds and 2 hard feeds) so only feel the need to go once a day.

I would go down more but living 25mins away and relying on my mum to drive means I don't get the chance :(

Ponies get checked twice a day in summer, once by me, once by the other's owner. She'll chuck mine some soaked hay in the morning and do all the chores for hers, I check on hers at night and do all the chores for mine. In the winter it's the same except as they are in at night, she turns out and I bring in.

My horse gets checked once a day and given a feed.
Other horses on yard would only get checked once or twice a week, they are visible from the yard so it would be clear if anything major happened and then get a proper check over once or twice a week.

Twice daily, every day. unless dying. Morning feed, turnout or exercise, muck out 2 or 3 depending what day it is. All are on bedsoft Pink and rubber matts. Make up and soak haynets. Late afternoon, evening. Lay beds, make feeds, bring in, groom/rug up. Put to bed, feed, do final checks (doors bolted, gates closed, everything ready for the following morning) go home.

We are summer regime in at 7 feed with supplements out at 4 check on horses through out the day and night :)

twice a day, always. out at grass they could have an injury, grass sickness, laminitis-any number of things that would be better sorting out sooner rather than later where you may not necessarily notice signs from a distance.

so mine are checked/done first thing, after work and last thing at night whether in or out.

Mine are out all year but still check twice a day and poo pick twice a day - easier to do this when they are at home tho
