Your dogs attitude towards other dogs??

We went to "Peace in the park" (hippy festival in Sheffield) today. We took Star dog and there were lots of other dogs there too. I was totally horrified by the other dogs!!!! I always thought hippy types would have happy dogs but all but one were really really having a go at Star and trying to fight/attack her!! They were all scruffy looking mongrel types which I have nothing against at all but there nasty behavior makes me think they haven't had the best upbringing??

Best of all these people seemed quite pleased at this behavior!

In there defense it was very busy/loud/townyfied which they might not have been used to.

So I was just wondering how you expect your dog to behave in doggy company??
 
Our girl will wait until we tell her before going & playing.....the boy just rushes off & greets other dogs..but he comes back when I call.
Neither of them are nasty & if challenged won't retaliate, unless another dog really has a go at them.
 
I have an elderly Border Collie, a 5 year old Springer X Collie and a 2 year old big black Malinois. All of my dogs are incredibly friendly to other dogs and to people.

I did hear that my Malinois had an awfully aggressive mother and the father was pure danger......not so in my dogs case though. So where dogs are concerned I do firmly believe that nuture plays a very strong part in their upbringing.
 
Well my dogs have to be good with others..... they have no choice the amount that come and go

Even my Akita does not bat an eye when a new dog comes in.

However even the nicest of dos can be/seem agressive towards others when on a lead.
 
Unfortunatly our dog is not to good towards bitch dogs and will try and go for them if she is not on the lead

She was semi-rescued so something must have happend before we got her. Towards boy dogs she is fine though.
 
My JR will grumble (but not snap) if he is on the lead, but is fine with all if he is off the lead. Think just feels trapped when he is on a lead.

I agree, but these people were pulling them back and saying "good boy" - totally wrong IMO.

We were all sat on the floor and one particular dog (a friend of a friends) kept charging at Star with its teeth out when ever Star went in a 2m radius knocking over whoever was in the way - this dog had no punishment for this and I think it was wrong!

My dog is incredably friendly to other dogs, he loves to play with other dogs however big they are and would run up to them even they were sarling at him or pick fight with him, Boris is 9 month old jack russell comparing to other big dogs we seem to have round here he would come away with unbroken pride and bravery after they attacked him! He does comes back when i call him.

His friends are hairy mongrel Ben, bull massif (4 month old pup unknown name yet), springer Simon, jacks Puzzle, fluffy, border terrier Betty, and Choco a saff x lab (chocolate)
 
Our dog is great with other dogs. However, I did spend a lot of time socialising her when she was a pup, and I think this really makes a big difference.
 
Buddy doesn't bat a eyelid at any dog he see's, just completly ignores them, although if they pester him to play he'll give in after about 10mins.

My Alf's like that. Bless his heart he's a sweetie off the lead but on the lead he's a horrible little article. I find it really embarrasing but it is down to the terrible start he had and we are working on it, slowly, and it's NOT something I'm proud of.

Dillon the collie dog is not the slightest bit interested in other dogs and Pie the lurcher tarts about because she wants everyone to chase her!
 
luke is agressive to other male dogs,

bus only when he's on "his" park he thinks its his as we live opposite it! its so annoying i have to put him on the lead every time i see another dog!

but out away hes better if hes with me and the horse he's fine!
 
Fantastic. There are 1,000,000 dogs in NYC and so Stell-a is incredibly well-socialised, if not a little blase when she sees another dog coming along (roughly one every three minutes).
