Love looking at these! Anyone got any pics they want to share of their previously unfit horses to muscled up, fit beasties?

So fascinating to see how much difference it makes.

jake un.jpg

This is Jake not long after I first got him. The floor is sloped but he looked like a true cut and shut. He has been turned out for 3 years before I owned him and was in a M gullet saddle and was a 6ft in rugs.

This one was a while later when he had begun some proper work but was still a work in progress..

And then this was in our first local show (please excuse him being BTV, he was like a coiled spring - hence my baggy reins!) By this point the gullet in his saddle was an XW and he was a 6ft7 in some rugs!

This was taken some time after about a week after he was retired pending further investigation (Navicular). Sadly we never got to finish our transformation.

I deleted any of the photos that showed how fat she really was as I swore I was never buying another fat horse and was slightly embarrassed that Id gone straight out and done that! But you can see what a chubber she was here

A couple of months into the diet

Away for breaking, more weight loss and starting to muscle up, but looking a bit weedy still!

A wildly unflattering photo of a grumpy pony who had come galloping over expecting tea and was disgusted to be turfed back out with no tea!

Shes only in light work so isnt yet the finished article, but for a just gone 5yr old I'm happy with the way shes developed without getting fat again. I was just thinking today how muscular she feels now.

He never quite lost the crest and had horrendous laminitis and EMS problems later on in life, which is why I'm so determined that my pony now doesn't put too much weight on.

Some great transformations here. I didn’t realise she was such a chubster MP!
Oh my lordy, I have literally never seen a horse as fat as Kira was. How she didn't have laminitis is beyond me, she seems to be utterly normal in her metabolism now so she has somehow dodged a huge bullet.

She came with an XW wintec which perched on her back with daylight underneath, like a roof on a house. She pooled water on her back as she was so fat either side of her spine. but is between a M and MW saddle now, packed with muscle. She really was a lucky lucky horse not to have some ill effects!
