Had to rush my cat to the vets this morning - he's really not very well. Went out to see to the horses first thing and he toddled over to me and flopped down at my feet, which is the kinda thing he normally does but he looked so lifeless and I noticed he had blood around his mouth and on his paws etc. So scooped him up and took him inside, carried on with the horse, started getting ready for work and by the time I'd got out of the shower there were about 7 pools of blood on the floor where he was vomiting blood. He then just crashed out on the floor, breathing really slow and heavy and very pale gums etc - he's obviously lost a lot of blood.
Rushed him to the vet he put him straight on Oxygen and a drip and said they'd see how it goes after a couple of hours - but would be looking at using the endoscope and possibly opening him up and surgery if necessary but the chances of him surviving that in his current state are slim

Im still awaiting a phone call from the vet to let me know what they're doing for the next stage but please send some of your vibes for Charlie !!!

well vet rang me and said that his heart rate had increased again which concerned him - he decided on x-raying, which showed up no obvious damage although there was evidence of a poorly tummy so its definitely blood coming from the stomach rather than anywhere else.
He mentioned that his temperature had gone back up to normal and although his heart rate was up he seemed a lot perkier in himself. So we've decided to hold fire on treatment for the timebeing although he will take bloods and will keep him in overnight. That way he can be kept on the drip etc, he did make me fully aware that after about 9pm there is no-one in the surgery so if something happens we wont be aware of it until next morning which is a bit worrying but if hes got any chance of lasting the night I suppose he's better left there.

Thanks for your vibes so far... keep them coming plzzzz

Is there not another vet that has 24 hour care? TBH I wouldn't be happy with leaving him that long alone in his state, even if a decision needs to be made either way, operate etc.
Could you try ringing other local vets?
Finges crossed

Things are looking a lot more positive today which is a relief! His heart rate is back down and he's generally a lot perkier. He didn't vomit through the night and has been quite mobile. We've decided to halt any further treatment, he's having his drip changed because he did seem quite dehydrated on the skin test, and the vet did a blood test which showed normal apart from slightly high count for his kidneys but not high enough to really cause bleeding of the stomach so we're still quite baffled as to what it was! He's still not made any attempt to eat so they've kept him for one more night and hopefully if all is good tomorrow he can come home.
