I’m on the market for a new hat, how exciting!
Something lightweight and comfortable for everyday schooling and long hacks. Needs all the latest safety features - maybe even MIPS? Budget around £150 I guess. Thank you!

I think you might struggle to find a helmet with all the latest features for less than £150. But Champion have some decent helmets for that budget. Gatehouse also have the HS1 (jockey skull) with has the SNELL certification for around £110-£170 depending on where you buy it. Charles Owen is obviously very popular, they have a MIPS range starting at £120 for a basic skull up to £445 (!!!) for a fancy helmet.

I recently bought the new Premier Equine helmet which has an adjustable dial as I suffer from migraines and could never find a helmet that fitted without giving me a splitting headache. Looks really professional and is very comfortable. Cost £100 so I know I can replace it easily after a fall. Although it only has the basic certifications so dont know if that’s what your looking for.

It’s really just about looking around for one that suits and make sure it fits properly (of course). Not sure if any local tack shops might stock any that you could try on/look at?

I have the Champion skull cap one with MIPS. Don’t do particularly long hacks but its comfortable and not noticed it being heavy. Had an HSI before but this fitted better.

I’ve got an HSI skullcap for xc and hunting, it’s one of the modern peaked lightweight jobs I’m after for every day, as I find them more comfy and less heavy/sweaty. I’ve had my current Champion one for a shocking length of time and it’s gone a bit loose, so I’m wondering if a Uvex or something like that might be nice?

Charles Owen do a MIPS hat. I haven’t tried it but my hat is a Charles Owen and I have worn it for sponsored rides etc and it’s fine!

Uvex do a MIPS hat. As mentioned before, it's really all about the hat which fits you and being able to try some as some retailers seem to be struggling to get stock in which limits availability options
