So another little bit of help for me if you all would be so kind.

What type of rugs are you looking at buying now? What type of rugs will you be looking to buy later in the year and roughly when will you be looking at buying them?

Thank you for your help, you are all so good at this and your info is fantastic. :)

At the risk of sounding like a totaly killjoy, do you need any rugs?!!! Unless you have a new horse or your horse is a rug wrecker, then hang on to your pennies! If I do need anything then I try and buy it at the end of the season it might be used in so it is cheaper, then I have it ready when the correct season for the rug comes around. If the worrys about hay continue with no second cut then you will need the extra over the winter - boo! I'm trying really hard not to be tempted by all the sales there seem to be at the moment, is really hard as who doesn't love a nice new smart rug! Thermatex are my weakness as they are so smart and look really comfy, I would like one on the bed!
Anyway, sorry, that was totally useless, am in a waffly mood. Will shush and let someone far more helpful come along!

sorry! Are you hunting for a particular type of rug or is it more sales research? Not sure quite what answer you are after?

at the moment im not buying any rugs as my pony is rugless all summer but back in may kinda time i bought a net cooler for travelling and in about march i bought a waffle for travelling when its a little colder. this winter im hoping to clip my pony which will mean i will need to get him abou a 300g turnout and a medium weight table rug i usually just get them from local shops e.g countrywide or barnstormers - you can order off the website - good prices too or if i cant find somethng good there i will get it from robinsons derby house etc

Research, just wanting to know what you'll be looking for and when. It gives me a good idea of what other people do as work don't like just to take my word for it as I am a complete rugaholic lol

If i see rugs on offer in the tack shop that fit my youngster that i dont have i will buy them, also if i ever come across a light weight rug and fleece that actually fits my shetland i will buy them. This summer ive brought 3 new fly rugs and a summer sheet. Start of winter if i havent managed to get what i need will order from robinsons or derby house rest of rugs. Cant wait for youngster to fit into older ones rugs, but will need rugs anyway for future foal.

Fair enough! I love bargains and like my smart brands, but am also rather attached to my pennies so I tend to buy out of season. If I get caught short (horse wrecks rug!) then I tend to get a derby house one (only turnout) as they fit well and don't break the bank. I try not to replace unless I have to. For ones that really matter (sweetitch rug) then I just buy what I think is the best as it affects her comfort such alot. For stable rugs etc then I hunt around online for a good deal in a good fitting brand as the shops near here are really expensive and don't have much choice at all.

I am a rugolholic so may not be of any use at all! I tend to buy out of season. Its cheaper, and there are many "no longer in vogue" colours. But if I see something I really like.....I buy it anyway!
