Couldn't choose as I use many possible combinations depending on what I need for each horse.

Was interested initially but couldn't leave without commenting :)

Depends on horse. Cavesson, lunge line & whip for youngsters/long & low.
Above plus side reins & bridle for a horse I want to work in a more raised position.
Chambon to get long & low if I'm retraining one & just a cavesson isn't enough.
Two lunge lines if I think turning in might be an issue.
And gloves.

I hate lunging with a passion, however with the new lad I've used it to help improve his canter. He was leaning and plunging his head in canter initially, so popped him in a roller and side reins so he could pull himself around - has worked wonders - so thats what I 'voted'.

I now only lunge if i really have to (have been ill recently but not wanted him to stop working - so lunged him a couple of times)

Generally just a headcollar :o
But bridle/roller/sidereins if "working" a horse rather than just getting them to move about and use some energy :p

Since my horse having PSD I doubt I would lunge him again, unless I was desperate. I used to use a chambon though, as found this encouraged him to work without forcing him. With nothing he was just a little monkey.

I did try the kerilli lunging method, but was worried I would do it wrong, and cause more problems than I was fixing :)

there's only a few items that are completely necessary, the horse, lunge line headcollar/bridle and me, the rest is all dependent on what and why i'm lunging;)

I had a lunge lesson the other day with a lungie bungie, was really impressed with how a little change in my technique really changed his way of going!
