Hi guys,
I'm just after your thoughts, perhaps you've seen this with another horse before, what you would suggest.. etc etc..
The horse is a 15.1 Traditional Cob.
He's been slowly loosing condition (I would say he's lost 15% of his body weight) and although he looks far from skinny, because of his breed, he's just not right, I thought the spring grass would help, as he's typical of his type and only needs to sniff it and he's gained weight, but even this has not bought on any change in his weight/condition
He was taken to the vets last week to get them to run some tests..
They came back as:
Not fighting an infection
Liver fine
Kidney fine
BUT
One of the tests suggests an internal inflammation which he is fighting and he is also aneamic.
The only way they could tell me where the internal inflammation is would be to cut him open and thats just not an option
Antibiotics have been administered to see if this helps with the internal inflammation, It was also advised to put him on a copper supplement, but this has not really done anything.
He seems to have developed a dry cough and at times when he is in his stable, his breathing can seem a bit laboured ?!?
Through the good weather, he was kept in during the day and out at night when it was fresher and this really helped with his breathing... He gets soaked hay, although his cough hasn't changed at all
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before, or knows of a good supplement that might help, anything at all would be of help right now..
Thanks guys....
