Gel Pads? Yay/Nay?? Andd if you do use them, for what reason please?

I use a gel pad on my horse. He doesnt really need it though.

yeah on 'sensitive' backs as it helps to spread the weight a bit more evenly. For 'normal' horses I personally don't see the point.

I use pads but not gel pads as they are heavy and heat up more than some others, personally if for sensitive/saddle fitting I use prolites or Polypad Pods. Sheepskin lined ones are nice but not so affective and pricey if good quality.

my ponies had problems with his back so was advised to use one (have a prolite one) and its made a big difference

i use prolite pads when ever needed. think they are great

I use a prolite pad under the saddle for hunting and for xc to help spread the pressure of the saddle when the horse is working hard, and to prevent any small pressure points from becoming a problem.

saddles are still checked regularly, and i've never had any problems, but I think that the more I can do to help him stay comfortable the better he'll do for me.

I wouldn't use my half tree without one. Hard saddles - don't see the point.
