Lol, Just really wondering what you all do for about preparing for shows in the winter-with the cold weather and all that.
I have a showing class soon, so some general tips also appreciated

We have a warm shower at the yard, which helps with the masses of white feather, mane and tail, lol... I took Freddie out the other week... we just bathed, hooded up to the eyeballs and then rug. Put leg wraps on over night to stop them pooing on their legs. Then rinse any stains in the morning very early so that it all gets a chance to dry... obviously we have a lot of white hair to deal with, lol, so it needs a while to dry.

Haven't done a winter show for a few seasons but can remember getting to one and finding that the potions and lotions that sat in the lorry were frozen solid - one lump of hoof gloss or two anyone? To be honest, unless horse is grey I wouldn't worry about washing anything just clean and tidy as much as you can, trim anything that needs trimming (unless a native and supposed to be hairy) and that is about that.

If its too cold for a full on wash i just use some warm water on a cloth and rub them down to get the grease and dust off, and bung on a bit of coat shine. works a treat. its amazing how clean and smart a horse can look with a fluffy clean tail and hoof oil, even if its not !

a lady at my yard uses dettol mixed with warm water on a cloth and just wipes the horse over.( Aparently it makes the coat shine)

I just wash nevada's socks and wipe him over with baby wipes just before we leave
