Fence judging today and got a couple of white gates with MIM clips in the Novice. At BE there is no penalty for knocking them down, only at FEI events.

I didn't know that (and yes they were activated). Many riders didn't know either and thought they'd incur 11 penalties if they knocked them.

Yep no rules with MIM or flag pens at national level
 
I’ve seen quite a bit of confusion around this recently, especially among newer riders or those moving between national and FEI levels. It’s easy to assume the 11 penalties apply across the board when you see a MIM activation. It's good to know that at the BE level, it doesn’t count against the rider; definitely something worth spreading the word about to avoid unnecessary panic mid-course.
