yuck , what could this be?

My lhasa has been scratching her right ear alot so tonight i was having a good look at it. There are no hairs growing in the ear canal, and the inside of the ear looks fine. However I found a scab behind her ear, i poked it a little and it was crumbling off but didnt seem much underneath and didnt seem to cause her much discomfort....

then 2 mins later on her head i noticed a small brown beastie! it looked bigger than flea's and I have been right through her coat and dont see anything else? Could the two be connected? and what could it be?

Shape, rough size how many legs etc...!
Could be a multitude of things, tick, bug anything!

bigger than a flea, didnt jump when i touched it, rounded body, maybe 2mm long, brown in colour ??

Ear mites? You can't normally see them but if the inside of the ear is scabby, crumbly or raw it could be that.
The beastie may or may not be connected!
