Not normally a showjumping person but have been there this week working for team ireland. They finished second to france in the nations cup and consequently will now be able to jump in next seasons super league. The team was Ed Doyle, niall talbot, Denis lynch and making his nations cup debut at the ripe old age of 22, Thomas Ryan. Just to make sure that croatia never forgot them, the latter three then proceeded to give the rest of the competing nations a reminder of how great irish showjumping can be by finishing Ist (Niall) 3rd (Denis) and 6th (Thomas) in the final days Grand Prix. Other countries who sent teams included italy, germany, austria, hungary, switzerland, poland and russia so the competition was hot enough.
There was a sale of young horses on the saturday night wher russian money was much in evidence. It seeems it is not only football clubs that they are buying!!

I'm pleased for the Irish - they've been consistent all season, so really deserve returning to the Samsung Super League after just 1 season in the lower division. Hope they can finally get their management/selection problems sorted out - it must be pretty unpleasant when leading light are at loggerheads.

Hi, Lu! I've been keeping up with Zagreb but thanks for the update !
Posting on HHO is hell at the moment....Kind of giving up....Taking me forever to post this....But so nice to see that few/some - like you ! - share an international perspective on horsey happenings

It was a fantastic result wasnt it? Was thrilled for Thomas, he really deserved the break. Have known him since we were kids and met him recently at the RDS there.
So hopefully that means Ireland are back in the Super league, though Tom will have his work cut out for him to make it into those teams next year. Its not beyond him though.
