Zara Phillips Boyfriend Banned from Driving

yawn. mike tindall is just a guy after all. people get banned everyday for the same. it must be a sloe day in fleet street.

Well he's a tosser for drink driving
mad.gif
, probebly thought he would get off with a slapped wrist , I'm sure she could do better
crazy.gif

Lol! I thought he would of got off with just a slapped wrist because of who he is, but obviously not. Yes I agree she could do better!

if you read the story you would see it was the next day AFTER he hd been drinking and as i shouldnt think he is the only one to be caught in those circumstnces either i dont think that makes him a tosser. and lil-moo your siggy is way too big. particularly as it glitters.

Ummmm - he aint just ZP's BF, he is Mike Tindall international rugby star! I would never condone drink driving but think he has put his hands up to it, said he didnt realise how slowly his body metabolism broke down alcohol, and accepted the consequences of his ignorance on this matter.

I like the guy despite this, and I know he has done a hell of a lot for ZP in terms of focus when training and competing etc - doubtless she has helped him too

I think you'll find there are quite a few people who drive after a night on the sauce and don't realise they are over the limit.

If Zara is happy with her choice of bloke, which she seem to be, then good on her. Too many royals have marriages which "fit" and then fail.

I have no problem with Mike, he's a normal bloke!

Dont be sorry, everyone has the right to express their opinions, and normally I would be agreeing with you about drink driving! I just felt that, whilst you can never say it is 'right' in any way, the circumstances for this one were slightly different from the usual

the title should read, if its to be taken in context...

"Mike Tindell, Gloucester and England rugby international, is banned for Driing whilst over the Legal Limit"

he just happens to have a Girlfriend called Zara!!!!

Thank You.

this place is getting more like The Sun everyday...............

HH, she's off to change siggy so you maybe can put her off UI soon.

I don't like drunk driving, but I often also sort of admire people who admits what they've done and [ QUOTE ]
accepted the consequences of his ignorance

I agree with you on this, drink driving not good but it was the next morning. Sentence seems harsh considering circumstances, a friends daughter did same thing and only banned for a year and she was 20.

He has been convicted of drink driving before - no idea of the circumstances about the first time though

Ok , Im sorry for calling him a tosser , diddn't realize he was so highly thought of
blush.gif
, BUT most people do realize their still boozed up the morning after and I suppose my thing is, with the sort of money theve got he could of got a taxi .

To put this into perspective, he may be a lovely guy. However reading the following taken from the International version of the NY Times:

Quote "The day before, Tindall had been at the races in Cheltenham with long-term partner Zara Phillips, the daughter of Princess Anne, where he had been drinking beer and champagne.

Reading Magistrates Court heard that police had spotted Tindall's Range Rover Sport being driven erratically at around 10:45 a.m. and apparently exceeding the 70 mph speed limit, the Press Association reported.

The car swerved across all three lanes into Reading Service Station where officers spoke to Tindall and smelt alcohol on his breath.

The court was told Tindall had drunk a Budweiser, a bottle of Becks and a Carling followed by seven glasses of champagne the previous evening.

He later went to a restaurant where he drank a further beer and a vodka and Red Bull, finishing drinking at around midnight.

The player, who admitted the latest offence, was disqualified for 16 months in 2000 over a previous drink-driving incident" end quote

Surely anyone drinking that amount of alcohol should have an idea that it is still in their system the next day. He has also it seems been disqualified previously for drink driving. Swerving over the motorway is never a good idea (I am frequently on that stretch of the M4 and I would not have liked to come across him). If he were a normal joe and he did this, then when swerving hit and killed a family member of those saying this has been blown out of proportion, I think the response would be completely different.

Had it been his first time, you could say silly twit, however, to do it a second time, to me is something he should be punished and shamed for. Drunk drivers kill, they should not be forgiven so lightly just because they are famous sports stars.

Apologies for such a long post.

Breeze_mum I agree completely. Drink driving is dangerous, end of. Anyone caught should receive a severe punishment. He should be thankful (as should anyone else caught drink driving) that it didn't take him to hit someome because his reactions were too slow, and that he was pulled over by the Police.

My guess is that the sentence is quite harsh because he's already had one drink driving conviction, so it's not as though it was a one off.

And I also agree with JM...when did he lose his identity just because his girlfriend is Zara Philips??

Is it just me that wondered why the hell he was drinking when he had a liver injury? Also it's not the first time a 'celeb' has been banned from driving due to speeding or drink driving and has made the headlines. I think celebrity or not the ban is fair - especially as it's not a first offence. I would rather celebs were treated fairly and not allowed to get away with things just becasue they are famous.

I think this is especially poignant since the goalkeeper in a similar state did clip a car when he swerved on the motorway and killed those two little boys out on a daytrip with their father who was also severely injured in the crash. If nothing else, Mike Tindall should count himself very lucky - as should anyone else on the motorway alongside him.

I absolutely agree with you there! Surely his doctors had told him not to drink due to this injury. I actually can't imagine being able to physically down the amount of alcohol that he did. I wonder how he got home that night.

Along those lines....I think it will be interesting to see if anything comes of the investigation in to the crash Ronaldo had this week. To do that much damage to his car, he cannot have been driving at ths speed limit (IMHO) so I will watch with interest to see whether he is charged with careless driving or similar, or they chose not to take it further. Assuming they find he was at fault or doing something he shouldn't have been (ie, speeding, driving recklessly), can you imagine them sending the world's most famous footballer to prison? I suspect not.

Sorry I didn't mean to make a point about either of their characters as I haven't met them and they are probably both nice people, I do agree that sometimes they don not make an example out of celebs to make us see it's fair but then it they case they should be even more careful. Especially as he had a previous conviction, sorry again for involving Zara in this.

The news programmes and the papers just call him"Zara Philips' boyfriend" now though as well. I guess they think it's more sensational than "ex rugby international".

Don't worry LM, I'm not digging at you.

You have nothing to be sorry about, everyone is entitled to their opinions and he does know himself who he is going out with and who is going to be spotlighted if he does such a thing.

I agree that he was lucky and that he should have known better, but he didn't cause any accident, what could have happened if the police hadn't stopped him nobody knows.

I also thought it was strange that somebody with a liver-damage would drink such amounts, but he looks like a steadily built sort of man and the ones I know of easily overestimates their body's metabolism. Though I also agree about that he should have learned from the first time, I also know that it can be difficult, more for some than others, to say no to alcohol at social events.
These things are to me both an excuse and not an excuse at the same time, most of us do things we in hindsight regrets during our lives, sometimes even though we should have known better.
