I've just logged in for the first time in months and had a handy message in my inbox from @Moobli (from July ) pointing out that puppy updates are always needed.
So, here we are!
Z is now 6months old and has grown like a weed. I keep waiting for some kind of fear stage, but it just isn't happening!
We've had confusion (what the heck is a pheasant feeder?! - cue plenty of warning barks, stalking and hackles as far up as they could go for a good 10 mins), and she makes sure that I know when something suspicious is around, such as sheep in the distance or that one poor bloke at the pub (who we decided was actually okay after saying hello), but that's as far as it goes!
We're now up to half hour walks and went up the Burton Dassett hills today to watch the sunrise. She's been camping with me (single night trips only), spent plenty of time at the pub, went to Blenheim on cross country day and has even joined me at an outdoor gig.
Preventing her from eating poo and constantly taking balled up socks out of her mouth drives me up the wall, however in the grand scheme of things, neither of those a really an issue!
We've had one session with a trainer but have otherwise been going it alone so far, a few very expensive months with the car have put classes on the back burner. We've been able to do a tonne of socialisation, though it is a struggle to contain the excitement when she meets new people and dogs. It's hardest when people say hello to her, but she has improved and we are working on it.
Anyway, that's probably enough waffling! Have a photo dump!!
