Zebra anyone?

Lovely!

A local yard to me
(owner is on here as tizer)
Has a few plus some wild ass.
They are so cool but obviously cared for in a specific way.

I hope this guy gets a good home.

Aww love his big ears!

I am curious about zebra hybrids, I believe they are called zorses, zonkeys, zules etc! Trouble is they are obviously quite wild and end up sterile like a mule so you couldn't breed them to be more domesticated, but I do wonder how 'tame' they could become...

Most of them look pretty awful horse conformation wise and don't look very happy in the few ridden pics I have seen! These two are quite nice, they have such a prehistoric look to them and look very much like Fjords I think..

I like the idea of a zebra. They can be trained, but in England the DWAL would be a pain with the local authority dictating what fencing, handling requirements and everything else are needed with your animal, you would not neccessarily have much input yourself.
Also with a lot of animals hybrids are also covered by DWAL so any cross breeds with donkeys or horses may also have strict requirements to keep them.

I live in South Africa and know quite a few Zebras

Horrid, horrid little ******s. Like a herd of *****lands all smooshed into one aggressive and striped body. They're HORRIBLE to train and very unpredictable. They carry diseases that they're immune to, but which are fatal to horses (namely AHS). They don't socialize well with other horses and don't rate high on rideability because they're nearly completely untrainable and have no scope or movement (as they have completely upright shoulders)

Lovely to look at, but I wouldn't want to own one:D:o
