I'm so gutted! The zip broke on one of my long leather riding boots and so I am unable to do it up. I enquired at Timpson's about getting it fixed and was quoted £45-50 and it takes 2 weeks to be fixed! I have a show on Sunday, no other boots and really don't wish to spend that much getting my boots fixed!!

Does anyone know where I could get it fixed for less money and in a quicker amount of time? :(

I really don't think you will get it fixed for Sunday! Can't you wear a decent pair of short boots and nice chaps? My OH dressage boots zip went and we found a lovely old cobbler in the town. He did it for £18 each zip but it took a couple of week, the boots came back lovely and clean :). Try to find a good old fashioned one who really will take care of all the stitching etc.

Ask in some local independant shoe repair places. I have had rubbish experiences with timpsons. However if the zip needs replacing you are unlikely to get them done in less than a week although they might manage to repair it in less time.

I think I paid about £20 for a new zip in my mountain horse boots from my lovely local cobbler.

If you can't find someone local Feet First at Chesterfield will do them by mail order, it takes about a week but depends on when they receive the boots, I think when they did a pair for me it was their zip person did them wednesday to wednesday........ They have a website but it doesn't mention horse riding boots so you will need to phone them.

Ask your saddler, with some begging and grovelling (and if they have a length of zip in!) they may well be able to get it done in time.

I had my saddler replace a zip in one pair of boots for me - £20

In another pair of boots my rug repair lady did them for me for £12, didn't take as long and actually a much much better job :D
