So it was on paper absolutely awful.......but I had a great time

We were actually eliminated.............in the dressage

!! We arrived early since my friend's class was before ours. After 2 hours standing in the sun Zoom didn't want to do anything. I warmed up and she was worse than she has ever been

She had finally started to work nicely at home but she was tense and awful. She ended up jumping over the boards in the test so we were eliminated. However, I think she just needs more time to learn to relax away from home. We continued any way and at least I got her round.

On to the showjumping (we were allowed to continue all the phases). She has only jumped poles twice before so it was a huge ask and she has never jumped on a surface. The first fence was a b*stard! A big spread with a nasty white filler on a funny angle. We had two stops at the first but after that she popped round nicely. We had a run-out at the second part of the double at fence 5 so were eliminated (again!) but she popped two nicely on the way out. It was a really big ask and she was sweet and honest. Cue massive pats

The two people I came with were both eliminated at the first jump and their horses are much more experienced so I was chuffed to get her a bit further.

XC - I was in two minds as to whether to do it as the day hadn't gone too well. Luckily Mike007 off HHO turned up as I was about to go and gave me a pep talk!

We set off and she jumped the first nicely. A stop at the second but totally my fault (I was thinking 'please don't jump' and she obliged!

). After that I gave myself a kick-up the bum and we flew round. Zoom was AMAZING!! We ended up with 20 jump and 20 time but I let he walk down the steps since she is inexperienced and wanted a look so lost time. It was the best feeling ever to gallop through the finish.

All in all a geat day!!! It was a HUGE ask. She has only ever played polo and horseball, she has one eye and we don't have a school or jumps to practice with so I am so proud. She is one in a million and with a bit more dressage practice and some indoor showjumping this winter we'll be flying.

No photos since my OH is rubbish and the one photo he took is bloody awful!

Thanks so much again to mike007 for turning up to support me and g + ts for those who got this far!

Well done you and Zoom for going out there and having a good time! Especially fab considering you don't have anything to practise with and her background.

Booo about no piccies! Next time when you're picking up the red rosette we want to see some

So pleased you had a good time and just took it as it came with no hard feelings. It's nice to hear someone ignoring the placings and listening to their horse. Sounds like it was a big chance for her to learn and she did very well considering, what a clever girl

Well done to you both

I was talking to Saf this evening about your dressage elimination and she told me that under BE rules, if the dressage boards are not solid all the way round, you should be penalised for leaving the arena, but not eliminated. I dont know whether stepping over a board is different ,but Saf seemed surprised.I still think it was apallingly rude of the judge ,at an unaffiliated event to stop marking your sheet.
