My arab mare suffers from sarcoids. I've tried everything, Liverpool Cream, banding, Camrosa, Sarc -ex but nothing seems to shift them, In fact, if anything the treatment just aggravates them (which i know is a risk anyway). Anyway, to cut a long story short my vet has just suggested trying Zovirax. Has anyone had any experience of using this? Thanks loads

Personally if I'd tried that many treatments and they'd all aggravated them I'd be inclined to leave them alone (depending where they are of course).

I agree and that has been my stance up until now but she really struggles with them. She has them on her girth and in her armpit. The poor thing was so sore this morning so I'm tempted to try one last time although I am in two minds....

A lady on my yard used zovirax on her horses sarcoids, he had flat one and lump ones. But it was making them quite sore after a month.
As well as this I suggested that she used the herb supplement Melanix and since being on this the lump sarcoid has partly fallen off and the flat ones have got smaller.
I have also used melanix on my own horse and found that after 3 months the sarcoid fell off completely. It is worth a try as a much less agressive treatment.

My horse also had them in his armpit. I used Thuja cream and they completely disappeared. It took a while but did work. Didn't irritate them in any way either.

I tried putting aloe vera cooling gel on them, one of mine had a large one on his side, the other had many small warts! They all dried up and fell off after using the gel on them. The large one his side looks like it was never there! Worth a shot.
