With all the things wrong with this horse how can it not be in constant pain? I cant see how you could 'retire' to the field even as a pet when it must be at the least dreadfully uncomfortable, if not in agonising pain?? How is this in the welfare of the horse?
deicinmerlyn - not very constructive post when you know nothing about me or my horses. What a bog standard idiotic answer.
Thank you meandmyself for being a bit more constructive! Im not actually referring to anything I own, I was purely interested due to seeing something on facebook and...
As title really! If you have an exceptional colt who you think could be a stallion prospect what age would you use them to first breed with?
Would you do a 'test' mating with one of your own mares first to see what he throws?
Also, did you train them to a dummy first and use AI or did you...
Re complaining, you try sitting in a tractor cab and spotting a condom, used or not in the grass when its mowed and then baled... Especially when u have crap weather conditions and are trying to make a whole seasons hay/haylage for picky equine customers in the space of two weeks!! Just be happy...
Vet has been out yesterday and is coming to xray tomorrow. We dont think he has lami but seems to be his arthritis in his fetlocks, both are hot from top of fetlock down to hoof. Vet flexed his right one slightly and he reared and grunted in pain :-( He has no rotation at all in the joint as it...
My riding mare has been trotting up fine on hard surface, ridden and unridden but when in the school she has been lame/unlevel. Firstly in a circle but yesterday was obvious on a straight line as well. Vet is booked in to investigate next week but a few people, inc farrier are saying that the...
Dont buy from countrywide! Thier prices are horrendous- try googling Electric Fencing Direct, ive always had great service and prices much more resonable!!
Thank you all so much for your replies. So nice to have some support. My OH is a farmer so very matter of fact and says she will just have to deal with it. Which I do agree on principle but am concerned about how to approach it, she is very bright and making connections with things at the...
As title really. My three yr old adores her pony, talks about him at home and pretends to ride him, tells other people about him etc. Going to see him is a big part of her day. Unfortunately he has cushings, arthritis and now waiting for a vet as think he has laminitis. He is elderly and...
Depends on who is running and organising the classes and which show you go to. Smaller local shows you probably dont need to worry. Sport horse and in hand hunter classes at County Shows can be affiliated to the SHB and you would then need to be overstamped and possibly a member. Best thing is...
I think its the BHS who have set up a group to support people in yr situation, they advise on PTS issues and even (I think) can send someone to be with u to support if required. I completely unstand your situation. My child is two and comes with to do my horses, it canbe a right pain but we...
If you have a covering cert from the stallion and its from a recognised society then give the SHB a call. Thier basic identity passports can include sire breeding if a proper cc is provided. It will say cc seen but unverified. Mare breeding would obviously be blank but u would have one side of...
Put this in breeding as well? Wolkenderry foals ive met have been without exception great temp. Think Lord Louis a bit sharper in himself but not seen any progeny
