Thanks paddy555 appreciate your reply.
I've a pair of classics for fronts and vipers for hinds after trying the fit kit these seemed the best options to hire with view to buy. Though after the classics not being great on the front and always seeming to twist I've been trying the viper on the...
Has anyone else experienced the rubber splitting under the classic toungue? It's an expensive £100 boot for the rubber to crack after only 5 x uses...just one boot but I've noticed the rubber is much thinner there than on the newly designed vipers.
I'm kind of in a trial period (though...
I never had a problem with my mare until she shared a field with a couple of asbo boys she started running rings around... she was then moved in with a slightly older and much quieter mare but mine carried on the 'game' of catch so I tried the send away method above. Thankfully the other mare...
Thank you so much everyone for replying and feeding back ideas, much apprecated! I'm now hopefully going to have a more successful eve shopping on line than I did last night...
Interesting to hear good reports on the water proof jodhs too so will look in to that, I'm west coast Scotland so...
Do jackets exist these days that have riding vent and cover your bum and the back of saddle so if you get caught out hacking in rain it doesn't waterfall off your jacket through your jodhs and your pants. Do these exist?
Not looking for the long old style wax / dry-as-a-bone type ones, just...
Thanks MagicMelon, yeah... a friend at yard would ask me how my 'mental' mare was today..Obviously I don't agree with her (!) so there's perhaps mental there already before crossing with likes of a highland!
Thank you for your stories, love that an Eriskay x found career in BSJA. The Eriskays I knew when younger weren't that interested in jumping but I now have one as a companion to my horse did jump a pallet gate one day to chase us when we went out - I was quite amazed and gave her respect for...
Just out of intererest - no plans to breed at present!
I often joke about crossing my Warmblood mare (AES) with a Highland pony. To which someone gave me the words of wisdom 'what, so you can have a mental AND stubborn horse' :)
I love Highlands as much as I do warmblood / sports horse...
Long shot as her surname will have changed I think. I worked with her in the 90's and lost contact. She was on Skye 90's and early 2000's will be on the mainland possibly down south and perhaps in her 70's now. If anyone can help me get back in touch please pm me.
(Hope this post is allowed...
If the area around stable isn't beyond it quite yet perhaps a load of bark chippings would help? I get the 'dross' from a biomass plant that has wastage from the chipping process and use it for gate ways etc.
My mare is Brave as chips x country. Spooks at a rock or her own fart when out hacking. No words of wisdoms but open to suggestions! They say sharp horses are the smarter ones. Whatever it keeps me on my toes and never a dull hack I guess! X
Love the replies to this. I also turn out every day, no matter what the weather (unless hurricane'esque!) even if it's for only a short time. Physically, psychologically I feel it's better to go out for even just a short while rather than stand in 24/7. I've seen my warmblood reverse up a hill...
My awful experience (in previous msg) was with flu only - as the vet forgot the tet that day (didn't have the combined) and came back few days later to give the tet (to add insult to injury in her sorry state.....)
