Well done, on friday I rode my horse out of the field for the first time in atleast 18 months.
I do find that with my confidence, it's best to keep riding little and often, until you begin to enjoy the experience rather than dread it.
Been up since 5AM to see Mummy and Sister off to competition; Jacks second, and the first time he's ever gone without a companion
Now looking after puppy, who couldn't go becuase he finds everything scary and would try to run away also looking after next doors kittens, chickens, geese, sheep...
Load a well behaved friend first, and then get some one to put a food bucket half way up the ramp, so the horse needs to step up to reach it. As the horse takes each step, move the bucket slightly further out of reach.
This is how YO taught 2 year old to load, and he now goes up straight away...
Just finnished reading some other NR threads, and he's getting the vet on the 26th, because she might not be fully sound!
How can the rest of the NR users not see thw damage he could be doing? He already knows she has had some tendon damage in the past, and to be honest, I would want to jump...
So, JR, who has no experience and knows pretty much f-all wants to jump, on a horse that was recently unsound, he has no flat ground, and he's planning on launching straight into high jumps?
Poor horse.
Parents had horses, so I didn't really have a choice!
I was never allowed near the mare, but I would love riding Prince (16hh + shire cross) who wa the gentlest guy ever.
He was National Single Pony, Carriage Driving Trials winner several times, hunts, hacks, used to jump 4 foot plus (Too old now, don't want to put too much pressure on his legs)
He's in his twenties now, and has no idea that he has sore feet, and tanking off at a gallop and refusing to stop will...
