Hmmm I have one (head/director in a people function for a tech firm), work remotely and now have horses at home. In theory, that sounds great, but reality is by the time I've got 5 stables mucked out, kids off to school etc there isn't much time left to ride! I do manage to squeeze a hack in...
Oh @Asha , they just love a curve ball, hopefully they don't come back. I had 5 or 6 treated on my (at the time) rising 5 year old, and they haven't come back.
Willow is still on barn rest, husband trotted her up yesterday for me and she looks 1-2/10ths lame, now on no pain relief. Stubborn...
A little Willow update: trotted up sound in a straight line (although still on bute, vet didn't think she'd be totally sound if anything really bad or bony).
All ligaments and tendons looked fine on ultrasound, apart from some thickening of the intersesamoidal ligament, so the conclusion right...
Goodness, glad I relocated to Devon!
I used to pay £55 for a heston back in Kent. Last year a heston here was £30 and it went up by £5 this year. Dread to think how much it would be back where we moved from
Well Willow seems to be content enough with barn life (she has a friend in with her and thank goodness she has the most amazing temperament).... swelling is down considerably but area still puffy and hot. She's walking normally on it so keeping everything crossed for Monday's imaging.
Really hope so. She's moving around pretty well on it today (albeit on bute). Wondering if it's an annular ligament injury, but tbh just guessing right now.
Luckily, I have a barn and I've been ok'd to hand graze her if she's moving ok. So management plan right now is stabled at night and then...
Hope everyone's babies are all progressing well. I've been meaning to post an update of not much for ages.
Willow went on 'holidays' about a month ago, the plan was to pick her back up again in the spring.
I say was, as yesterday she was on 3 legs in the field. Looks like she has slipped and...
My local vets (St Boniface which are Crediton based) are I think reasonably priced on x rays and I'd use Clare Smith for a vetting. I've been told Westridge has a guy who is hot on lameness too, but I don't know his name. There is Western Counties who are a large practice and do cover this area.
Ah amazing, so we are good on the BD front then. I found something to suggest vaccination records can be used to prove when they were imported.
Now to get my lazy behind in gear and get passport sent off 🤣
So first of all, I'm really, really rubbish at life admin, so no judgement please.
Bought my (then unbroken) 4yr KWPN mare in Feb, she was imported in Jan. Was told to get her overstamped with AES and not to send to KWPN as will likely never see passport again. Of course I've done neither and...
If Willow doesn't make a dressage horse, she'll make an amazing mother's hack 🤣 led the whole way today out on a hack with my 9 year old. I even had to do a rein grab off of her as usually Saint of a pony decided to exit stage left at speed 😳
Been getting out hacking as much as life and weather allows. Love Willows approach to everything new, have a good look, think about it, maybe a nosey but generally never 'argh' I can't go past that.
Big question today, we rode up our lane totally alone and met a friend on her horse. A bit OMG...
I keep flitting between thinking I need to be doing more with Willow, and it really doesn't matter to be going this slowly.
Over the past couple of weeks we had another chiro visit, and saddler came back for 8 week follow up. She's gone from a medium to wide gullet 😳 I've also at last sourced...
So my gelding was never 'right' in my eyes, but also not classicly lame (as confirmed by I think 5 different vets that looked at him). He would wear the toe of his right hind (barefoot), was lazy in the school but forward to hack, and canter transitions were explosive at times. He was very, very...
