    Agility newbie questions

I only have 1 dog who likes to tug as a reward and 1 who likes it as a game but doesnt see it as rewarding. The non tuggers still love a long handled tug with a food toy on the end though. You've just got to find what they love. In terms of treats, I use a mix of a variety of values but things...

Saluki Greyhound Cross Puppy 13 weeks

I have no advice, at 8yo we're still teaching our saluki mix recall and he sees 6ft fencing as a suggestion 🙈 She's beautiful though.

I'm sure I'll be back to being 'encouraged' do compete once our normal trainer comes back from her holiday but I'm currently trying to work through Fen's need to nip every time he turns his listening ears off and I bring him back to correct him 🤬 He's wonderful when he's flowing and listening...

Fen is showing Thursday and DD Friday. We're also working Saturday and Sunday on a friends stall.....unless I decide to enter Ginny into the rescue dog agility 😬

    Insurance, yes or no?

3 are insured, 1 isn't but he is with a vet where we pay monthly and everything is covered. I am likely to put him back on insurance and change vets though.

Looking for ideas for sighthound obsessed mother

Our working bred whippet is tough and not at all fragile but also easiest to train and live with. 10/10 would never touch anything with saluki in.

    Breed recommendations

Fen is two now. We've taken things really slowly with him sports wise but he just did his first kc agility comp (second ever) and is competing in beginners flyball competitions. He was our first Vallhund but we've know his breeder for 8 years or so. I'll be honest, we were under no illusions...

DSD for Fen's first KC agility today. Tried for a start line wait since he's been so good at training....total fail but he didn't cross the sensor so once the zoomies were had we could start properly 🙈 2 Es and 13.18 faults for 2nd on our last run. He has decided hes a better course designer...

What about a Swedish Vallhund, less drivey than a kelpie but perfectlycapable of doing sports, portable size, easy to train and want to work with you and less bitey than a cattle dog.

I found someone who did 1:1 lessons and got in that way as opposed to group courses but it did take some asking around before finding someone who had space for us.

Been 'bullied' into entering our first KC show (we did enter vision in August but couldn't go) 🙈

I wonder if I can convince someone who can actually handle to take Fen on to give them a run for their money 🤣

We both love both sizes but realistically with my back and the size of our other dogs a mini is much more sensible......not that sensible come into it much as this would take us back to 5 dogs 🤣

Totally forgot.....Chaos Wombat went to Darlington this weekend. 2nd of 3 in Post Grad and 2nd in a large stakes class so £10 paid for lunch 🤣 We also met with a mini EBT breeder that OH has been talking to and she has a litter planned later in the year 🙈

I dont have masses of experience but having had a docked and natural bon dog I can tell the difference in terms of how the hair grows but that might be breed/type specific. I don't know aussies well enough to know if it's the same.
