Are blood tests accurate for everything though? I think they're not for magnesium, as magnesium will get pulled from the bones if there's a deficiency, so blood levels might still look ok.
I don't know if Swansea Building Society do self build mortgages, but they are my mortgage company and were really good for us as we're in an unusual situation (4 adults buying together a house with land and running a business here). They might be able to be flexible for you
Are you sure the pony nuts were £8.50 each? That's not what your receipt says. But then the receipt says you saved £7.07 whereas you say you had a £5 voucher, so I'm as confused as you!
I think moving into saddle fitting would be excellent. I have no idea how much income you could potentially earn, but I love reading SBloom's post on here. If you could also learn about fitting for the rider, and have a facebook page where you talk about relevant stuff, then I would pick you...
I'm interested to know what the accident was with the horse netting, as I'm trying to decide whether to fork out for it. PM if you prefer.
I think the one you linked to might get holes in easily or stretch if a horse leant on it, but that's just guessing really. Chicken wire I wouldn't use with...
I don't know that I'd be so bothered by liveries talking about who might/might not be moving on or off a yard. It can be quite important to know whether there's about to be a departure or arrival. My yard is small and has been the same herd for over a year, so someone leaving or arriving would...
Have you looked at yards that promote themselves as Equicentral? Or holistic/natural yards.
There are two I know of in Tameside, greater Manchester. They're about £400pcm but might be more if you're not around to do daily checks/holding for a farrier etc
Have you looked at Heather Moffets range? I think she favours riding PREs so I would assume her saddle designs are well suited to that shape, and she does have fitters and has previously offered fitting advice by email as well I think. Granted that only helps if you feel like getting a new...
I have realised that my arena doesn't have a membrane between the top layer and the stone layer. I also think the entire surface needs 'fluffing up' as the previous owners let their kids ride quads round on it for fun, so it is fairly compacted and gets waterlogged in heavy rain. I know the...
Inflation is lower, but it's still inflation so prices are still rising. In an era of high inflation I'm not surprised by more than one price rise a year. I opened my yard in January 2022, £100 then would be £119 now. I put my prices up at the start of this year but I'm still nearly 10% lower...
Dead hedging?
Or skinny posts and some planks of wood/rails. 2 inch stakes knock in really easily and also pull out of the ground fairly easily if you want to take them with you in the future
2 weeks.
Nothing wrong with the yard, but I'd just bought my horse and it quickly became apparent that the yard wouldn't suit her. I moved and she settled immediately at the new one.
I fully support your decision too. It can be hard to suddenly realise that a horse you thought was fine really isn't, but if a vet on the ground who has actually seen the horse is willing to talk PTS then it is a reasonable decision to take
I'm not great at electricity stuff but that's a 70Ah battery and 5.4A charger (ie would charge a 5.4Ah battery in one hour) so it would take nearly 13 hours to charge that battery if it were completely without charge to start with. Bearing in mind that if you run a battery down to 0 charge it...
