I have long lined a few of my horses and have taught my self, its pretty easy, i just use a roller and a lunge line or a set of lunge reins, from then on after you have established the basics and the horse is going well you can add side reins etc..

yes it's always very painfull! i have been kicked in the head and if it was an inch closer to my eye i would have been dead! i was very angry with him for a long time but then i just thought hey these things happen and you've got to move on so i did n im fine now!
I think breaking horses in at 3 1/2 and leave them til there 4 is brilliant, however racehorses are broken around the age of 2. horses in iceland arn't usually broken til there around 7.
