    Equine Hospitals

I have used both. Personally, I had a bad experience with NEH, so woulnd't use them again.I use a local vet for everything, mainly due to call out and my vets are very goopd, but my horse has been to Rossdales for an MRI and couldn't fault them.

At my wits end- Hormonal, grumpy mare!

Thanks madlady. She is always quite mareish when coming into season, in the field with me, she is fine. It's usually in the stable or tied up I have to be careful of her threatening to bite me. She is a mare that does like her space, she has a huge stable and can be nice one minute, but then...

At my wits end- Hormonal, grumpy mare!

Thanks, this is my concern. I know other mares at our yard have been in season this winter as well. My mare is a dominant mare, so not sure if that is part of the problem or not. I'm still paying vets bills from previous treatment, so may try the frisky mare until the vet comes at the end of the...

At my wits end- Hormonal, grumpy mare!

Hi Everyone, So I thought I would see if I can get any good advice from here, as I have tried everything else, and I am at my wits end. Sorry, it is a bit of a long one! I have a 14 year old hanovarian x tb mare and i have had for for 2 and a half years. I loaned her for a year prior to buying...

It isn't really a supplement but I know some who has a horse with crushing sand they only thing she has been told she can give is spillers lite balancer. May be worth looking at?

    Supplement help

I used to have my mare on suppleaze gold, rose hips and bosweilia, but as this was costing quite a. It I changed to TEN supplements challenged joints which includes everything I was feeding, but half the price. She has been on it for 2 months and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hocks...

    Hind limb lameness-experiences?

I would personally try and keep her in work, so that when the vet comes thee is something to see. That is what I had to do with my horse, unfortunately as she had an allergic reaction to a sting (her whole head was swollen I couldn't get a bridle on) she had time off, when she went to the vets...

    Hind limb lameness-experiences?

My horse had a few other problems at the same time (check ligament injury in one foreleg and fractured her collateral cartilage in the other). The hind lime lameness was intermittent and she didn't feel right behind in trot or canter. She would sometimes lose her back end. She didn't show any...

Agreed to a full loan - and now i feel physically ill !

Not all loaners are bad. Unfortunately, it seems that once people have a bad experience, they tarnish all loaners with the same brush. I had my mare in loan first, owner visited her once as he lived abroad but I kept in regular contact, sending pictures etc and then in 2012 (after a year) I...

    Hind limb lameness-experiences?

Hi Have you had the farrier out to check if he can find anything in the foot? I don't want to scare you, and this may not be the case. But my mare went lame (intermittently) in her off hind (2/10 lame). After X-rays and nerve blocks we found she has arthritis In both hocks and hind fetlocks...

Check Ligament injury- advice and other experiences?

Hi there, My mare did her check ligament earlier in the year (along with discovering she has arthritis in both hocks and hind fetlocks and also in her right fore). She wasn't on box rest, but pen rest and we did lots and lots of hacking (walk work mainly) she has been back in full work for...

    Joint Supplements

Hi, I had my mare on suppleaze gold which is really good, but was also feeding rose hips and bosweilia. She has arthritic changes, and I have actually swapped her onto the TEN challenged joints supplement, which contains high levels of msm, glucosamine, ha, bosweilia, rose hips and omega 3...

    Feeding linseed = seasons?

Linseed can bring them into season. It's the omega 3 which is found in spring grass. Also, I know someone who was trying to breed from their mare and she was told to feed linseed to bring her into season. I've taken my mare off it for this reason, she can be a right tart anyway and gets omega 3...

    Insurance - KBIS?

Yes I agree with gunnergundog. My mare did her check ligament in her near fore and the have excluded both front legs. Luckily or Unluckily (whichever way you want to look at it) she has had to haver her off fore treated, so I suppose it is good that she had problems whilst she is still covered...

    Insurance - KBIS?

My mare is also insured with KBIS and she has had a lot of treatment this year, including an MRI and they paid with a week of receiving the invoice and direct to the vets. I have changed cover, as before she was only insured for £3000 of vet fees, know it is up to £5000 and more for colic...
