    Caring for hooves in winter?

Hiya! When we bought my boy in August, his previous owner told us that he'd had a hoof abscess as a 5 year old, and she had used Silverfeet Hoof Balm on his feet after that. I've heard many people saying they don't use hoof oils and balms as they believe they can do more harm than good, and...

    Help with clipping?

Thanks guys! Your replies are very helpful :) I think I'll see if I can track down a pair of battery clippers to borrow to see what he's like before I invest in a pair, but it seems worth doing! x

What Do You Feed Your Welsh Sec D?

My Welsh D x is in moderate work, and is just on half a scoop of Winergy Equilibrium Balancer and a haynet when he comes in at night. :) He does down his food quite quickly though, so I'm experimenting with stuff to see if I can get him to take his time! Haynet within a haynet seems to work...

    Vet fees amount for insurance

I had the same issue, and I asked the vet who came to do the vetting for my boy :) He advised us to go for the £5000 per incident option, because although that puts the insurance quote up, it means there is enough to cover such things as a colic operation, which can be up to the full £5000! Hope...

    5 stage vetting

Heya! I had my boy vetted and I'm very glad that we did. Oscar passed with flying colours and nothing to note; we had a horse vetted before him that we very nearly bought, but the vet picked up a lameness, so we decided not to buy him. The owners had the lameness investigated and it turned out...

The most useless horsy item you have ever bought?

I bought Oscar a flyfringe... I can honestly say it is the most useless thing I've ever bought. I put it on him and within 10 seconds he's managed to rub his face so that the fringe part ends up under his face like a beard! It's hilarious XD

    you know you're horsey when . . .

I spend half an hour sorting Oscar's bed out, but I never make my own! You know you're horsey when you can find spare headcollars, leadropes, numnahs, rugs and boots scattered around the house. When you've replaced your coat rack with a bridle rack.... When you get to college covered in hay and...

    Help with clipping?

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice on clipping.... I've had my boy for 3 months now, and he's very calm about almost everything including being shod etc. He had his first clip yesterday as he was getting quite fluffy, and we found that he's not too fond of being...
