We recently had to sell our converted van, and I was wondering where the best place to go for trailer hire? Preferably self-drive and daily (or even hourly) hire?
Based in Portsmouth/Hampshire area- thanks :)
I wouldn't recommend Fort Widley, but that's just my opinion. Quob Stables, Shedfield and Thorney Island are all really good if you don't mind going out further.
Recently I did some work experience at a riding school, and as a thank you they gave me a free lesson. That was totally fine! But where I am used to riding my own horse I really struggled with the school horse. Not being used to the trot and giving different aids was quite tricky!
Right in the middle actually, about 14/15? Her mother owns the horses herself, and sees the pictures regularly, so she knows what's going on. I know that it's totally up to her, but seeing it on my newsfeed everyday does grind my gears.
NZJenny I sometimes with it could become a law, but it would be almost impossible to regulate :( I'm good and I put my phone away when I drive, but if a helmet is a legal requirement for a motorbike then shouldn't it be for other things, such as push-bike and horses?
Yes! I mean, I always ride with a helmet, but around the yard I don't wear it like they permit in riding schools. But then again, who does when they're just grooming their horse?
To me, riding without a helmet is a definite no no.
Basically I'm venting; I'm friends with a teenager on FB who has two young horses. (Disclaimer that I have never met the horses, and I don't know their temperaments, just that one is 5 and the other 6. She is an 'experienced' rider.)
She...
I've had the paddock boots that I use for everyday riding for a few months, and I love them! They are extremely comfy, and I fall off a lot but they haven't shown any signs of wear at all. The boots are good quality and a very good price!
Read up on what you can enter! Classes for specific breeds (e.g. M&M, Native, Foreign) or colours e.g. coloureds, bays etc. For in-hand showing, the judge is looking for a horse or pony that is carrying the right amount of weight, has a shiny coat, healthy hooves, and a bright eye :)
Here is a site that I found very helpful! http://www.basic-horse-care.com/showing/in-hand-showing/
If she isn't bitted then you can use an in-hand non bitted bridle- obviously because there is no bit you can't use regular reins :) Here's an example
Use a leather bridle over a webbed one! The...
Thank you to everyone who has replied!
Barnacle you have explained it really well :)
Pearlsasinger that's exactly what I meant; I couldn't see any other way to describe it apart form jealousy! I'll take the advice onboard- I never bring treats into the field, but the public do have access to...
