Hi everyone,
I've heard this called "waterlogged coronets" - I can't work out how to attach photos but in summary my horse has some white/flesh coloured substance around her coronet band. I think it's a fungus because she wears neoprene overreach boots which I've realised probably retain...
That's good to know, helps me to picture the result I'm going for, thank you. I think the main thing is concentrating on my hands and producing what you've said above and focussing (which never comes easily to me!!)
Sugar_and_spice - I think the ones you're describing are similar to the ones...
Thanks all for the responses! I've decided to buy some hybrid continental reins with rubber grips. They have more "stops" than normal (6cm gaps) so I'm hoping they'll help me to monitor my hands so I can catch myself red-handed. I'm also going to invest into some quality gloves. I'll let you...
Tnavas - Oops, I see what you mean! I won't press! Sometimes I say these things because if I think about pressing, I'll hopefully have the right amount of pressure on the rein, but I completely see what you mean so I'll keep it in mind! :)
Tnavas - That makes sense, thank you! I'm finding that an easier position to maintain too.
Catkin - I have rather narrow dressage reins (rubber on one side). I'm thinking of playing around with different reins so I'll have a look into those :)
I am thinking of getting it checked out because it feels so unnatural but I'm hopeful it's just a matter of building muscle memory. I'm going to give these methods one last shot before I get it checked out (thanks for the advice everyone!)
On Monday I'm planning on marking my reins with...
Tnavas: That's a good idea, sometimes I can't tell if my reins are slipped until my hands are suddenly in my lap!! I might try and mark my reins with tape so I can see where my hands should stay. My fingers are against my palm but my grip feels really weak and I get a jelly-like feeling when I...
Hi all,
I really struggle with keeping my grip on the reins. After half a minute, I always catch myself having to shorten my reins because I can't seem to keep my fingers closed!
I've been looking into Mailer reins...any reviews on these? And I've been thinking about getting a 'stress...
Me too! I have just discovered that it will allegedly be on BBC (Sport?) iPlayer but this is unconfirmed.. I think I picked the worst week to go away! 🙈
Hi,
Unfortunately I am away the week of the Eventing at Rio, so I was hoping that there would be a way, other than recording on the TV that I can watch everything again? We don't have a way to record, or sky or freeview (think we just have a standard digital box?) so I hoped someone might...
Hi,
I have a young mare who is progressing well with her flat work but leans on the left hand, especially on the inside hand when I'm on the left rein in canter. She is quite unbalanced in canter so it's hard to school her on our rather unlevel field. However, I'd appreciate some exercises...
Thanks sbloom, I hadn't really considered that, it's interesting to hear a variety of expertise. I think the idea behind the Fairfax is that it moves with the shoulder so as not to inhibit it but I wonder how much difference it really makes (as you say, can it really diffuse the pressure on the...
I have the same problem - I have long legs but my mare is a short backed TB but with big shoulders that push the panels back or they inhibit movement. I will have a look into these suggestions, thank you! It's hard to know which saddles actually work and allow free shoulder movement and which...
