    Poo whilst on restricted grazing

Going to get a big bale of straw. If they are actually hungry they'll eat it. If we give some out a few times a day. Just to make sure more fibres going through. Will keep looking to see if there's any research on this though.

    Poo whilst on restricted grazing

We've had to restrict our ponies grazing track/strip grazing, to prevent laminitis. They are all very very good doers. They've dropped down to only doing 3/4 poo a day each though. Due to the shorter grass we think. They're are in good fettle, very active, coats coming through well and are a...

    lungeing on grass

I always lunge on grass and mostly in the dark. My girl really really wants the grass. My pushing her on when she wants to eat makes her angry. She works beautifully through her back when she's angry 😂

    Rate my yard

Provided it was a bit like TripAdvisor and the yard owner could reply to claims, it's a brilliant idea. Finding a yard that suits your horse can be a nightmare. Having a site where you can whittle down the ones that definitely don't suit your horse ie limited turnout, no indoor school etc would...

    Yard brooms

Defo a corn brush. On a dry yard you can have it immaculate in minutes.

myler combination bits - anyone tried them?

Yip, a short shank. Horse loves it, I can switch between bitless and the myler easily now with no fighting at all depending on what we're doing. Tend to hack bitless then school in the myler. She use to fight everything she was asked to do and nap terribly. Goes like an angel now.

    Driving pony in the dark

We ride out in the dark covered in lights. I wouldn't even consider driving though. Be hard to see far enough in front safely and you can't just nip up on to the pavement if you hear someone bombing it down the road behind you dangerously. Also vehicles coming up behind might misinterpret the...

    We are not amused...

He looks a tad pee'd off and I can see a bit of a flaw in the height of the door chain. I hope you have the means to defend yourself!

Horses & leaving them in a will

It's a very good subject to bring up! Most of us don't want to think about it but it's extremely an important thing to consider. Mine has behaviour problems that are perfectly manageable by the few people that help me wi her. If I pass before she does she'll be pts. It's written in the will for...

    Worming help

Given that your only meant to worm for tape worm once a year after the first frost, Yip that's a very odd schedule. Are worm counts done at all? Is there a resistance problem in your area? Sounds very like the yard has an underlying worm problem.

Saying what people don't want to hear or biting your tongue?

The horsey world is horrendously clique ridden. People don't want the truth, they just want people around them that'll agree with them. Telling the truth too often tends to backfire and leave you a bit of a social leper on a yard if your a bit too honest.

    Cushings - medicate or not?

Medicate and get it under control as soon as possible. Friend had a mare and got scared about the initial weight loss. Went on to chaseberry instead. Six month later laminitis followed shortly by huge abbesses on her face and bottom. I thought I'd seen the worst way a horse could go when I saw...

If your horse/pony became ill or injured

If it was bad enough ie a break, I'd pts. If ligament, muscle etc it turn out in small paddock with sensible company. Wouldn't bute as if they can feel the injury they tend to look after them selves and not run about. Think the only exception would be a young horse with a lot of potential. That...
