Anyone have any experience of grazing muzzles and teeth wear? Can wearing a grazing muzzle have any impact on a horses mouth, jaw, teeth? I am going to speak to my equine dentist tomorrow but would appreciate anyones experience or thoughts?
Thanks! :)
Hi all-
Nice question for you all on a rainy day! Noticed mare was in season on sunday as some sticky dicharge under tail which she gets now and again- however on closer inspection some of the discharge was a reddy/brown colour. Still a little bit today- her back (where her ovaries) are is...
That must be the most fab feeling- well done you :) My horse is insulin resistant and I feed her on the PSSM 'diet' ALCAR, whey protein etc.. you will find you become quite obsessed with their diet (My mare is no longer allowed apples and carrots/ has soaked hay and is muzzled for turnout).. but...
Hiya, I always lunge with tail bandage around bum- its a bit of 'tellington touch' method, you can also ride this way as well but I have not as every now and again my mare decides the tail bandage is annoying! I use a bungie german training aid thingy as well. Different from pessoa as front end...
Hiya- My mare is exactly the same however she does have physical reasons why she needs a long time to warm up due to old scar tissue in sacroiliac/ hind suspensory damage- but she does take 20-30 mins to work on a good soft and consitent contact. I use lots of transitions acute and normal, I...
RE Chaff- I've been on a similar journey with chaff- Hi Fi lite has loads of sugar in still! (who knew?!!) I have been reccomended Halleys Timothy chop (google it) basically its just timothy hay chopped up- no additives- no sugar/ molasses/ crap! :)
Awww don't beat yourself up sounds like you have a very talented by sharp and sensitive mare who was picking up on vibes you will have been giving out without realising. Keept getting out there! Who cares what these people think!
Hiya, My WBxTb is insulin resistant and wears a muzzle 98% of the time. She develops gassy bloat colic if she has too much grass and is obvs laminitus prone. I feed her fennel to help with her gassy tummy- she had 2 hours grass last night which made her have huge bloat but exercise and fennell...
Hiya, Can't tell how old this post is but my 9 yr old warm blood mare damaged her sacroiliac as a 4 yr old, it wasn't until she was 8 that chronic hind leg suspensory was diagnosed following nerve blocks, scans etc.. she had both hind leg nerves cut last summer and has come back into work as a...
Most definatley muzzle!! My 9yr old WBxTB had mild lami last year and I think possibly has some insulin resistant issues and she is muzzled all day atm ( I may let her have an hour on the grass tomorrow if shes lucky!) 24 hr soaked hay in her stable at night and ridden everyday- I don't think...
