    Freezemark problems?

Has anyone had a problem with Premier Equimark freezemarking? My pony was freezemarked but it looks like they held the irons on too long as there is no white hair and we are down to pink skin. He is black. I did question the length of time they were holding the iron on when they came as it...

    Compressed hay bales

Does anyone know in practice how long a compressed hay bale (hay, not haylage) will last in the plastic wrapper? One of the producers has told me it shouldn't be kept in a plastic wrapper for more then a few months (but does not state this in the bag), another has told me something completely...

Is it really wobblers? Your experiences please!

It's horrid when you get to the PTS conversation, then you find out its something which can actually be treated. I'm glad you got to the right answer. It gives me hope too! If the feet are painful the horse will have a bad back as the hind legs are not coming through correctly.

Is it really wobblers? Your experiences please!

This is very interesting. So there are other causes of ataxia which are based on metabolism as I was beginning to suspect. I also think if a horse has pain in all four feet, which mine had, he is not going to move or stand normally and with time that will become neurological. I hope your...

Is it really wobblers? Your experiences please!

Thanks for this - this one really rings true with me. It is interesting in my case that it has probably been in the hind feet for the whole time I have had him (hence why I found it hard to know what my "Sound base line" was). I always thought it would be the fore feet that go first! I am glad...

Is it really wobblers? Your experiences please!

My 16.1 IDX 11 year old gelding was diagnosed with wobblers last year. I was devastated but after a long while began to think that nothing he does was involuntary. I actually had a neurological issue myself last year and was staggering about as my leg would not do what I wanted at certain...

I am seeking DIY livery in mid kent

Does anyone know of a small yard near Maidstone who would like to give a home to my 16.1hh IDX gelding? He is retired (diagnosed with wobblers so still young at 10 - and you would not know he had a problem to look at him) and I would ideally like to find a private yard who can give us a nice...

Shock Wave Therapy - anyone had it done?

Thanks everybody - I feel better able to talk to the vet and am certainly finding out a lot about what can go wrong with horses! As well as the OCD in my horse's hock he has a problem in his pastern - probably ligament damage and probably caused by the OCD going undetected for so long. He has...

Shock Wave Therapy - anyone had it done?

Sounds expensive! I am getting the impression that it is a treatment for arthritis. Can it be used to deal with calcified soft tissue to stop it going any further?

Shock Wave Therapy - anyone had it done?

Glad to hear it has worked for you! Can you tell me what the problem was in his hocks? I need to get my head around what it can do as I am seeing the vet at the end of this week to discuss options for my horse.

Has anyone had Shock Wave Therapy for their horse? What for, and was it any good?

mud fever with no mud! anyone tried NAF mud guard feed additive?

Udder cream works well on my horse. I know they say you shouldn't put creams on as they form a barrier but it works for us. The udder cream is kind to the skin and helps keep it supple, thus avoiding minute sores in the skin for the infection to go in. It also has antiseptic qualities. I put...

OCD operation for an older horse

I'm in Kent and I am starting to research possible vet practices to ask. I think you have to also ask the success rate in the practice or of the vet - they seem to be willing to give that out. Not sure how I am going to change to another vet as they seem to want to hang onto you once they have...
