Freezemark problems?

Has anyone had a problem with Premier Equimark freezemarking? My pony was freezemarked but it looks like they held the irons on too long as there is no white hair and we are down to pink skin. He is black. I did question the length of time they were holding the iron on when they came as it seemed much longer than I had seen before on my older horse (witnessed by the attending vet).
 
I am told its OK and takes 3 months to fully heal so apologies if I have been a bit quick off the mark.
 
When I had my brown pony done it certainly looked worse before it got better but the white hair came through in the end. I’m glad it was done between being backed and having time off to grow as it would have been a while before I could have put a saddle on him.
