    Do home rug re-proofers work?

Have found Gold Label Rug Proof to be very good. Easy to spray onto rugs and have even sprayed a rug whilst on the horse! Rain beads off the rug as soon as sprayed and seems to last.

    Falpro Lightweight rug review?

Has anyone recently purchased a lightweight Falpro rug? Usually buy Horseware but I quite like the look of the Doncaster lightweight rug. Have never had a Falpro before so just wondering what people think of them?

Opinions On Fly Masks With/ Without Nose Protection

I wouldn't pay extra for nose protection if horse hasn't got pink nose unless it hates flies landing on nose area. I have found the Premier Equine Buster Standard fly mask stays on well & not badly priced. Otherwise I would go for the Equilibrium fly masks which although more expensive, seem to...

    Stable lighting ideas

We installed the Geo5 kit (from solarcentre) The solar panel itself is quite small and very lightweight. It doesn't require full sun, only daylight. Ours lights 4 stables in an open fronted barn, a small feed room and the space in front of the stables really well. Would definitely recommend this...

    Quiet clippers?

Another vote for Liveryman Classic trimmers. I used them to do hairy legs at the weekend (horse, not mine!) with brilliant results. Quite a bit of feather too. Used the 9mm comb attachment. Really pleased with them. Only usually use them to trim faces, but coped with legs easily.

    Flax vs Equinola

I have used Equinola for the last year or so. It makes a lovely bed and absorbs really well. I get mine from Mole Valley, switched from buying Bliss from another supplier due to price. I take all the wet out at the weekend and top up by approx 1 bale a week, maybe 2 in the winter if horses are...

    I know, I know... clippers!

I have Lister Liberty clippers and really rate them. I've had them for approx 7years with no problems so far. Mole Valley Farmers have them on offer as a set with some trimmers at the moment (get extra 10% off if you sign up to emails)

    mares tail ...the plant!

We have mares tail in our field and have had it sprayed for the last 4 years with either Grazon or Pastor. It has killed off the visible part of the weed as its growing and this year we noticed a huge reduction in the amount of mares tail coming up in the field.

    XC boots recommendations?

Front boots on the hinds wouldn't have the protection in the right places, especially the boots with rigid protective areas like Premier Equine.

    XC boots recommendations?

I'm another one who found P.E boots too long. Had a set of Stealth Boots but found the Velcro didn't stay fixed when wet. Have now gone for Trizone Impact sports boots and they fit perfectly but only come in horse size & in black.

    Wound creams/gels

My vet recommended Aluspray when my mare had a stitched wound. Easy to apply and kept flies off. Wound healed beautifully.

Anyone tried The Rake - opinions please?

Having had a speedskip for the last 5 years, I wouldn't use anything else now (equine speedskip). Saves on bedding too.

    Chapped lips

I swear by Balmi lip balm (boots or superdrug sell them) Find it stays on well.

    Strangles and rugs

I have used Nikwax wash-in rug proof in the past but this winter have had brilliant results using Gold Label Universal Rugproof spray. Bought it online for about £15 for 1litre and it has treated 3 rugs. Wash rugs and dry them, then spray and leave to dry. Leaves the rugs lovely and soft and the...

    Brushing boots

I have a set of premier equine double lock brushing boots which get heavy use. They wash well in the machine. Last year premier equine had some great reductions for Black Friday.
