Anyone tried The Rake - opinions please?

ok - warning to others - do not Google Image search 'The Rake'

OP - can you expand as to the rake you are referring to? :)

Thanks for the warning WelshD, unfortunately I ignored it and will now probably have nightmares tonight....

lol I had to image search The Rake after all the responses above :eek3:

Sorry OP, I like cheapo garden hand rakes for poop scooping :) never get on with anything with a long handle, I find them difficult to use.

Curiosity is getting the better of me. Is google imaging the rake suitable for work or do I have to wait until I get home?

OP - I've tried many shavings forks over the years and you can't beat a Fynalite one for mucking out - if that's what you mean rather than poo picking in the field? Mine must be 10 years old now and good as new.

Oops, sorry folks ! It's a new type of muck rake, more plastic than the traditional metal ones, claims to be more robust and I just wondered if anyone had put it to the test ...

Is it for poo picking? I can see pro's and con's. Might be better in long grass but I think would be difficult once the poo has been broken up by birds. Agree with milliepops, I use a cheapo garden hand rake.

Lol at the googling!

I think it is engineering something differently that was fine before! I don't see what this brings to the table, apart from not having holes for your bedding to drop through if using it in a stable (F poos in one pile so I do use a standard rake in there).
I don't find traditional rakes heavy (it says how light it is!) or not long lasting - 10 years still going so I don't see the plus points.

So has anyone on here actually tried one of these rakes? Are they any good?

I'm fed up of my Stubbs ones breaking at the welds and the grip being so uncomfortable.

I just did it too.

As for the plastic rake, with those little spikes in the teeth, it looks like it could be useful for keeping by your bed in case the Rake comes to visit you

Did you read what it was? Because I was so scared I immediately closed the window, and now I really want to know what it was but I'm too scared to google it again :p

Yes I did. It's supposedly been a cover up but in America so we're probably safe enough in the UK.

One Wikipedia entry was a woman's account of how it seriously injured her child and her husband drove the car into a lake on the way to take the child to hospital. The child's last words were something like "he is the Rake".

Jaaayyyysus christ on a bike, I googled it and now I won`t sleep for a week !!!!

As for the rake on this picture, not ever tried one.

I would also recommend a speedskip :)

Great on grass, bedding, gravel etc etc

The rake (not *The Rake* people, don't get scared!) is so small and short tho. Don't you find it a pain to bend down all the time. I'm poo picking 2 horses on adlib forage who could be mistaken for elephants the amount of dung they produce.

I always use an expanding garden rake for the field, made a huge difference. You can make the tines as close as you want; it even makes a good dog poo picker up with the old Stubbs scoop. I cut the handle down to size which saves me bending too much, easy to do with a hacksaw.
Most places like Home Bargains, Wilko will have them cheaper, http://www.gardening-naturally.com/...ng-Rake.html?gclid=CMOGtdSQxcsCFbYK0wodGNkFAg

I am poo picking for three horses, and yes it amazes me how many elephant poos they produce!

I don't have a bending down problem :D however if one did have a bending down problem, I could symapthise that it could be a complete pain in the bum :D
