    Effects of horse being driven..

Thanks - yeah it is sold as being suitable for a novice which is perfect for my bf! Have never had much experience of drivers apart from one on my old riding school but she was a little heavy at the front and struggled to canter for a longtime.

    Effects of horse being driven..

Does anyone have any experience of this or do you ride a horse thats been heavily driven. I am interested in a horse but its been driven a lot as well as ridden and has some stiffness through its back? Any advice appreciated x

    Would it be unfair?

If you feel that you could run a half marathon and get the training in by the 18th - then thats probably a fair equivalent as to how the little horse will feel on the day ;-)

35 yr old pony not getting up

I have followed this post and am totally shocked that people can be so nasty. Someone obviously posted this in utter desperation when her dearly loved horse was so unwell. I doubt that in her grief she needs thoughtless know it alls telling her she could have done better. I lost my horse too 6...

    Ringbone

Its so devastating when you find out your horse has ringbone. Mine was also diagnosed age 9. We had to take things much easier but he remained in light work for another 10 years - we had a fab time! Funrides, bits of jumping and some schooling. I did have to have him put to sleep age 18 and am...

    Neurectomy Surgery

You have to be 100% sure of the circumstance. A neurectony was recommended for my horses ringbone as it progressed. He was so terribly lame that i needed to see evidence that the arthritus was causing the total problem. After 3 thousand pounds worth of xrays, nerve blocks and mri - my horse was...

    why do it to myself??

I dont know how - but i remember your posts - you lost your horse the day before i lost mine. I am the same as you - i look at them every day but don't even know if i want another. Miss the lifestyle and my old horse so much but for some reason - doing it all again scares the hell out of me...

Keeping a horse "lame" enough before lameness workup

if its lame - i wouldn't run the risk of still riding it and making it worse just for the vets to see. thats madness!

    Letter to my horse

I remember the first day I went to ride you, I’d wanted a pony for so many years I’d lost count but ‘not until you can pay for it yourself’ dad used to say. You came striding out of that stable so proud and I fell in love with you from that moment. We went on our ‘trial’ hack but I knew before...

    Ringbone

My horse had ringbone too but we went on to have ten more wonderful years. We did lots of hacking, some schooling and even popped the odd course of jumps, only little ones though. He just had half a bute a day as it progressed and that suited him fine until 3 months before i had to have him pts...
