Thanks for all the replies. My boy is under the largest Equine Hospital in the UK and they are happy to keep issuing repeat prescriptions. On occasions I half the sachet but when he looks a bit stiff I give him the one sachet. He mainly looks stiff when he has been tearing round the field...
As title really. My 18 yr old has been on 1 sachet a day for 4.5 years, initially for a back injury and then for general stiffness and arthritis. He is very comfy and looks pretty good until he has a mad 1/2 half hour thundering round his field, next day can sometimes look a bit rickety after...
I have loved my Arab and my Connie in the past but they are now in horse heaven. But being a dyed in the wool BHS horse person recognising all things our side of the pond I have to say Andalucians are the cream of the crop for me. They take extra special care in our climate but the breed is...
I agree with Roweach. Plenty of hay cut and baled before the dry spell. If there will be an issue it will be that everyone is feeding their winter rations 2-3 months before they normally would. Which means they might go short in Mar next year. If we get normal rain in Aug should be ok.
Been thinking about how you will all manage all day and feeling lucky I am in the east. Hope not to hear of any more horror news tomorrow. So so sorry 3 people have lost their lives in this
This has happened a couple of times with one of my horses after clipping. It was a reaction to the clipper oil. I would wipe clipped coat over with warm water and shampoo to get rid of oil residue after clipping.
I normally spend quite a bit on rugs but I bought a gallop fly rug for £29.00 for my broad shouldered Andalucian. I cut the top breast strap clean off so it is just secured with the lower breast strap. It fits a treat with no rubbing at all. I didn't feel one bit guilty for doctoring it with the...
I love show sheen 2 in 1 shampoo it leaves the mane and tail in fabulous clean condition. You could try hot ragging in between washes. Use a flannel and hot water, squeeze out water and pull through sections of the mane from the roots, dragging the grease and dirt with each stroke. You always...
I am steadily coming around to this. Most of us know when an individual lies through their teeth about why they haven't appeared. Mine I feel is a seasoned liar,
who only turns up for the wealthiest folk in the county. Even though I pay cash at every visit.
I have a good farrier but 9 times out of 10 he is late or changes the day at the last minute due to one crisis or another! Just wondered how patient everyone else was to the predictable excuses every time they never appear when they say they will. I have to book a day off work for the farrier...
arrgh.... I have had enough of this wind! I would rather have frozen everything rather than this. I am looking forward to my lovely neddy just enjoying his hay am, listening to birds sing and enjoy his morning hay without thunderous wind or rain. Not liking this climate change at all. Roll on...
We got rid of all our blue and yellow tubs a few years ago because the colour attracts bees and so many drowned, just have black ones now and no more drowned bees.
