I heard a story about the carbon fiber in them not being up to standard and it shattered and cut the horse. It was a couple of years ago but it's put me off ever since :/ Other people had also said about the carbon fiber strike guards cracking as well.
That's my worry! I'd asked Premier Equine last year which size would fit and I gave the measurements of Joey's legs they said a small would fit, but I'm not convinced. I'll have to see what their returns policy is like
Thank you :) I've looked at the Premier Equine ones they look nice, but I was a bit worried about the sizing because Joey has quite chunky but short legs haha
Hey Guys,
I'm wanting to do a BE80 with Joey at some point this year, but what I am confused about is the entries. I'm not a BE member, so when I enter a BE80 what passes do I buy? Do I need a horse pass and a rider pass as well? I'm so confused. BE's website isn't really helping either and I...
I was just curious to see why people do, I'd love to do it someday but have always felt I need to be better than I am. Avthechav I wish we were as lucky, all affiliated venues are at least an hour and a half away :( we don't actually have any affiliated BE events in our county (Durham) which is...
They're so expensive :( I completely agree if you only wear it a few times a year, that would be a waste of money to get a new one for the sake of it. I wear mine everyday, I don't feel safe without it haha so I'm going to be cheeky and ask for one for Christmas :P
Thanks for all the replies, I thought it was strange that there were no guidelines published in the article that I read. I think I'll have to replace mine then, I've had it for a good while now.
Thanks Under-the-radar I just assumed they would be made from similar material, you learn something...
Asmp I totally agree! I would much rather ride with one than without.
It's very strange that they don't have any guidelines on them though because they're made from basically the same materials that riding hats are made of, so do the same guidelines apply to body protectors as well? Hmmmmm
Just curious to see what you guys think.
I was reading an article in the latest issue of the BRC Rider magazine, they had a special feature on riding hats and body protectors and it was reading this that sparked my question...
With riding hats the guidelines are very clear as to when you...
Yeah we've just weighed him again today and he's put on 30kg's in a week and a half :S not sure whether he should be putting weight on that quickly. So we'll be keeping a very close eye on him and he's only getting 3 meters square of grass a day, but keeping in mind the grass is about 6-8 inches...
Thank you :) this is what we are doing, the grass is quite long so it doesn't look like he's getting alot, but his condition hasn't changed so far, so it must be about the right amount.
