I just posted the BHS FAQ on horse passports for them.
I think on the DEFRA guidlines it makes mention of "unregistered" horses having leaway to travel but if you scroll down it defines unregisterd and it only refers to stud books and organisations which hold certain compeitions not bog...
Im reluctant to call about any horse after last week, I have been looking for a good natured cob youngster to break and bring on for my daughter after she comes of the small sassy tiny one. There was an ad for a suitable looking filly on Preloved, local and in my small budget. I am looking for...
I bought a pony for my son who is 6, my daughter (who is a small 10 year old) has always been nervous of horses, she wont get on my 15hh who is steady as a rock and she had her own pony a couple of years back but was too nervous to do anything with him. So knowing I was buying for a six year old...
I bought my first horse 25 years ago, never ridden a horse other than on "pony rides" but volunteered at a local charity and gained vaulable care experience. I was in my teens I bought a tb with a tendon problem off the track for peanuts after I self taught on a part loan for a couple of months...
Im not sure DNA conclusively prove ownership? Im sure it just serves to prove the horse is who you say it is not who owns it? Im sure anyone could take a mouth swab and get that done while it was on loan or out of the owners sight then claim ownership? Frustrating, I think mine will be staying...
I think I may have to think on the freezebrands too, I think the more bases you cover the better so safeguard your furry family members, doesnt bare thinking about with all the horror stories floating about!
No not when I had my first still had the same horse when I had my second but I had a second horse, the one that got away! One had to go as couldnt cope physically or financially with two and nobody would have wanted my old naggy broken down ex racer so I had to sell my perfect boy.
All passports are in my name but I have know horses to go on loan with passport in the owners name and the police to tell the owner it is a civil matter. I supposed you would have to report the horse stolen in that case
edited to say I was thinking of loaning my daughters pony when she is...

My question is this
If an equine passport does not prove...
I dont see any problem with older horses, depending on how older is defined. A freind of mine bought a young horse that threw her problems through greeness and then sold on and bought an older horse that literally knew every trick in the book. It all depends on the individual horses temperament...
I was wondering if that Dentinox cradle cap shampoo might work too, Its for removing scaly skin off a babbies head so might be useful in clearing up the scurf.
Ohhhh is that what that is! I have that too behind one knee nothing weepy just loads of scurfy skin flakes, he has had a mite injection which lasted literally weeks and we tried lime sulpher hampoo which seemed to have stopped him itching so far and its been a couple of months but I constantly...
about fifteen years ago in the dead of winter my dad gave me a leg up and threw me clean over (doesnt know his own strength!) anyway as I hit the deck hands first my mare turned to look to see what the flip I was doing down there and stood metal shoe and all right on the tip of my index finger...
