    Recommendations - back protector

It doesn't cost a lot more to have a Racesafe altered to fit you perfectly. Not only making back shorter but also changing front so it sits better. They are an excellent company and very helpful.

    Body protector recommendations please

Racesafe will as someone else mentioned shorten the back for you if needed. They will also shorten front and take sections out over shoulders to get a perfect fit. It is not that expensive. The most important thing when buying a body protector is have it properly fitted by someone who has been...

Keeping a horse on its own...?

How exactly do you know a horse on its own never quite lets itself relax??

Mucking out - what do you use?

Don't knock the garden sieve idea! Mines on wood pellets and mostly mucked out by hand (rubber gloves!) and small shovel but do have a garden sieve too. It comes in very handy for getting hay out of bed.

Cost of having a horse put to sleep

Why sedate? My vet does not sedate (unless horse bad with needles) he says it just makes things slower and more potential for problems. He has done 2 of mine, no sedation and no problems.

    Leukocytoclastic vasculitis treatment

It was a horse I looked after and yes it really helped. If you reasearch it you will see it makes sense in a lot of ways. I think the main thing is you are treating it from the inside rather than putting lotions and potions on it which often seem to irritate it more. We stopped all other...

    Leukocytoclastic vasculitis treatment

Horse chestnut tincture, fed twice daily, approx 10 drops. Not much time to reply at present but this worked on a very bad case I knew. Cheap to try.

Winter Pigsty Stables - is it just me??

Try using a plastic garden sieve, may seem a bit odd but gets the little bits out of pellet beds also good for getting bits of hay out.

Beaters and shooters practically trying to kill us?!

Alec, I usually agree with you but not in this case. The OP said she was not aware of what the beaters were doing and asked if it was dog training and he laughed at her! Could he not of at least warned them what was about to happen? I am shocked by this post and if any of the shoots around me...
