When boots get to this stage I buy a new pair and then start breaking them in. I continue to wear my old comfy boots but put carrier bags over my socks to keep my feet dry :) By the time I have got the new boots feeling "like mine" the old ones are finally ready to go to boot heaven.
Still snowy here up on Ilkley moor. Track to the horses still very icy but with snow/mud tyres on the car I can get up the hill easily. Never believed all the hype about snow tyres but after having them on now for 2 weeks I think they are fantastic. Take care out there everyone x
That's how most of us get through a day's hunting :) Seriously, Christmas morning we used to ride to the village pub and have a tipple before riding home x
Always had whiskey and peppermint in mine. Had it slung on a cord in an inside breast pocket. Sly nip every time we stopped .... wonderful. And real dutch courage for big hedges :)
I have done this and someone very wise taught me to teach the horse to stop and wait..
Everytime you practise an emergency dismount or pretend fall then reward your horse. As Tnavas says above...it's how the Arabs do. Also dog tags on your saddle and bridle.
