Just for fun - what's your dream breed?

Morgan, fell in love with one on a holiday in American, came home and a while later bought a 6 month old! He's nearly 8 now and is great, i'd really recommend the breed.

    Wit's end with pastern dermatitis

Very sorry to read your update. It sounds like you gave him excellent care and were brave enough to make the right decision when needed xx

Finding someone to loan / share horses

Crikey, this is a very old post! What are you looking for @729hel ? I did end up sharing, then loaning, then sharing and now have my own horse! So I guess I have been around the local horsey community here a fair old while and may be able to help.

    Vet appointment availability

Well I rang at 8.50 but apparently that is too late. They can only make phone appointments for that day and you have to call at 8am. A bit like the old fashioned doctors appointments. To be honest I think that is pretty rubbish. By chance tomorrow is the last day on an altered timetable at work...

    Vet appointment availability

I just wondered how long people usually have to wait for a small animal appointment? My OH fell out with our last vets over a billing issue and said we needed to find another vets (yes it was annoying and they handled it badly, but still). I found a new vets with supposedly a good reputation...

    Horsemanship Showcase 2025

Thanks for the writeup @stangs. I will try and write mine up tomorrow as I only just got home and need some tea! I didn't see Tori Jeffress. My favourite demo was by Rebecca Harris of Balance Horsemanship on improving the canter. I have seen her do demo's in the past and she is just so clear and...

    Horsemanship Showcase 2025

You're welcome. I think they have made some last minute changes so you might just have to check it and edit a few bits. I just remember when i went a few years ago I really struggled to work out what was on when!

    Horsemanship Showcase 2025

If anyone is going to the Horsemanship Showcase next weekend I (well, mainly AI) made a combined schedule so it is easy to compare what is on when and thought I might as well change it. It is correct as of now but obviously they might make changes. Also it assumes everything will run to time...

Soaking hay, how do you soak yours?

I have to admit I splashed out on a Stubbs soak n roll and find it much easier than the big trugs I was using. It makes the chore of soaking hay much more bearable.

    No rain and no grass

East Anglia here and it is extremely dry. Any rain we do get promised often doesn't materialise. We're on sandy soil anyway so what little rain we get just drains right through. The 'grass' is just brown. I'm on a livery yard and the fields are overgrazed and stressed. We're not allowed to feed...

Saddle for a broad cob, the minefield!!!

I haven't read all the thread but I bought a WOW for my wide-ish youngster. Had it professionally fitted by a specialist and had it checked often (sometimes every 3 to 4 months). My instructor never liked it. Earlier this year my horse just stopped going forwards in walk to trot transitions, he...

    Gut balancer suggestions…

I rate yeasty magic supplements. They sent me a surprisingly large sample to try when I enquired and it really helped mine who was struggling with his digestive system at the time.

How much are people paying for lessons with an average instructor who comes to your yard (so not anyone famous/who competes to a high level)?

I pay £35 for 45 min for my instructor who was a competition groom for many years including with one of the very big names in dressage in this country and has competed to a high level in dressage herself. I've always thought she was very cheap and to be honest I am a bit shocked about how...

    Bridle without noseband?

Quantum bridles? The noseband slots between some leather at the right height so if you just don’t slot it in nothing is left dangling. Designed to be ergonomic and comfortable for the horse. This one
