yard bullies.. need advice plz help

It's sad but true that where ever there are horses and girls/women together there will always be bullies. I was beaten with schooling whips when I was a kid, hated going to the yard but loved the pony I looked after so kept going anyway - in the end my parents got it out of me and the yard owner...

    Cleaning sheath

I haven't read all the replies so am probably repeating what others have said but the noise when riding (high blowing) is totally normal. If the penis/sheath is smelly or there is black sticky discharge on the legs then the sheath will need cleaned before the flies come out in the summer -...

    best instant calmer?

I've used the Zylkene calmer and it really does work! Quite exensive and only a short term fix (long term the cost is inhibitory) but it is definately worth a try.

Any opinions on Sports Medicine Boots?

I am looking to buy a set of SMBs for my mare who is prone to hot and puffy windgalls in her back legs - worth the not inconsiderable cost or a waste of time?

Help with brakes and steering required!!!

Help! My new mare has only ever hunted (now 7years old) and although she has a sensitive mouth I have discovered a problem when I took her XC for the first time... no brakes and even less steering!!! I'm not especially strong but I'm not a fan of fancy bit work if a snaffle will do, she seems to...

    Saddle fit advice please!

My new mare was really poor when we got her so I used my standard 'fits all' saddle (which in reality fits very few) with plenty of front riser padding. Now she is well muscled and, dare I say it, almost podgy she still has a high wither probably due to her TB father and ISH mother. I have...

Lessons in Northern Ireland - Help!

Hey, I'm really hoping someone may be able to give me some advice... I'm relatively new to Northern Ireland and have been bringing on my very green mare at home. It's got to the stage where I can't progress any further without some professional teaching but I have no idea where to go for...

    Help with complicated mare!

Help! My mare has started the frustrating habbit of pulling back and refusing to be tied up. She has now started to even resent being caught and I've had a few painful kicks from her in the stable when she doesn't want to be handled. The tieing up problem started a few weeks after I got her and...
