Thanks all! I have actually just spotted something on WHW so will make contact, still up in the air what my exact plans are but good to know that it's a fairly pain free process.
Has anyone ever rehomed from a charity? I'm probably going to need a long term companion in the near future but after having previously bought a horse that turned out to be unsuitable I was wondering about finding a horse from a charity, that way if it doesn't work out they can be returned but...
So the last time you rode was before his teeth were fixed?
Personally I would assume that he was expecting his teeth to still hurt. I would start off by putting his saddle on and walking him out with lots of praise and treats, just in a head collar but make hacking and tack a fun happy thing again.
To be honest losing purchase/sale price isn't important. I've spoken to the old owner and she is going to see if she can have an extra one at her yard and if so I'm going to give him back to her, she has geldings and is happy for him to live out his days with her. Fingers crossed and breathe...
He is still on the regumate, I haven't stopped it.
Unfortunately I have never had an issue with my mare being out with geldings nor my former gelding being out with mares, nor had I encountered issues with mares and geldings in the preceding years AND a former owner (not the place I got him...
I don't have a different turn out set up to put him into unfortunately and sending him away still leaves me without a companion, we could put my mare on Regumate as well but there are no guarantees that would work and it still leaves me paying a lot of money for a pony I can't put my children on...
So, I made a mistake. I rushed into buying a pony and he's not suitable at all for either of the jobs he was bought for.
So, the pony came from a riding school that offered little to no turnout and that only had very inexperienced riders and helpers, it was a difficult environment and...
The problem is I want the land adjoining my house, there is actually 2.5 acres for sale just down the road but that doesn't really get me much further forward than being at livery.
Maybe I'll just look at long term renting some land.
Sorry, I didn't mean added to our mortgage, I meant could I take out a mortgage on it not connected to the house mortgage? Even just an acre would be fine to be honest (two fat ponies, land is well drained).
Had a google and came up with this:
"At the close of 2017, Savills GB Farmland Value...
Has anyone ever bought land near to their house for their horses? Hoping to move and our new house is surrounded by fields (one that looks like grazing, one that has horses on already and the rest is arable). I want to try and buy a couple of acres for my ponies but I don't really know what I...
I'm 5ft8 (and a half) and my mare is 13.2 on a good day, with shoes on!
People are always surprised at how well we fit together, despite being a normal sized NF she takes up my leg well and we've done everything together over the years. I doubt I'd ever buy anything bigger again, she's so...
I heard someone mention the other day that if you take your Land Rover to Gatcombe, you get special parking and access to a Land Rover tent..?
Is this just folklore or does a Land Rover grant you access to 'the promised land'?
