After nearly one hundred responses in just under two weeks, I thought I would update everyone who has contributed with a brief analysis of the survey.

That's the best advice I've had so far Dry Rot, thanks. I certainly had not thought of ex-police vehicles or airline boxes, so I will definitely look into them.
I could be preaching to the converted, but having reported the incident to the police, make sure you get a crime number from them - in case you need it as evidence later.
