Putting my horse up for share - but not 100% bombproof etc?

I'm a sharer and agree with the above then honesty is best policy. I am not confident with horses who are a bit more "feisty" so an advert simply saying not suitable for novices would put me off enquiring. I have always been upfront and honest with my owners and would only expect the same. I...

    Winter wear!

Are the mountain horse and musto jackets good to ride in too? All waterproof jackets I've had have been uncomfortable to ride in. Maybe various layers and options is the way forward and not a one for all sort of coat!

    Winter wear!

Now I'm back in the saddle and loving it with my new loan I need to prepare for the winter months (winter is coming...*) ! Can anyone recommend a pair of good quality but reasonably priced (not happy spending over £150) which can be used for yard and riding? I have a pair of woof wear boots...

    New loan nerves!

What did you do groundwork wise? I'm new to all this so want to do the best I can but feel nervous doing stuff I'm unsure of around people who know what they are doing!

    New loan nerves!

I'll be having at least two lessons a week and will practice what I have learnt in between. It's amazing how hard riding properly is! Hopefully it'll become second nature like driving!!

    New loan nerves!

Well I had a lesson and realised how unfit I am!! Clearly hacking mindlessly for hours isn't good exercise 😀 How long did it take people to get there fitness back?

    New loan nerves!

I've had a few shares before but this is the first time I've shared a horse who is responsive and can do do all three disciplines! I think with regular lessons and working hard myself in between I could learn a lot and have a really great relationship. I'm very excited. If a little daunted!

    New loan nerves!

Oh wow annagain! Some people amaze me. This is why I want lessons and to get to know the horse. I am used to riding school horses and happy hackers so I want to learn how to ride correctly in terms of how to react if he gets strong etc. it's things like that you don't learn on plods but I...

    New loan nerves!

I am starting a new share agreement and I am nervous! I've been riding on and off for years but the last couple of years it has been general happy hacking. I have struggled with confidence due to anxiety issues and always liked to play it safe with horses. My new loan is a beautiful horse...

    Part loan wanted - Kent

Hi I am looking for a part loan (2-3 days a week including a weekend day) in Kent, ideally around Dartford but will consider further for the right horse. Recently returned to riding after a break so bit rusty and not long finished a part loan. I am looking for a safe and chilled horse to...

Staying straight and secure in the saddle

I have been sharing a horse for a month now. Gaining confidence weekly with him and really enjoying it. Problem is I'm still having problems with my position and seat. When making the transition my left leg seems to take on a mind of its own, it either starts to swing slightly or I struggle...

What does your horse cost you per month?

So basically it's not a one size fits all then. :) will wait until I earn a few grand more....

What does your horse cost you per month?

I've recently taken on a horse share and just know it's going to make me want my own horse in the future. What do you pay monthly in total on your horse? Just a nosy question really as until I've progressed up the career ladder I won't be able to afford one, especially in Kent near the...
